Shocking but expected from MS I guess :( today they will either fix or expect to see a lot of negative online articles about this. MS knew on 7th Feb there was a problem but since then nothing other than they are working on it

This means if you play any GFWL title you cannot access the Co-Op/MP or register new titles/download patches/earn achvs online etc etc basically anything which depends on the online servers.

Since GFWL launched in 2007 this is the longest outage ever its never ever been down before for more than a few hours. The worrying thing is that this coincedes with the Halo 2 servers shutdown in a few days I think the 2 events are linked as Halo 2 was the first GFWL title (although it was released 2 days after Shadowrun) the service was designed around these 2 titles initially. Most likely someone @ MS turned the Halo 2 servers off early & this took GFWL down as the GFWL team were sacked or moved to Windows 8 in 2011 so no-one is left to fix this :( its tied to Xbox LIVE & that's been running fine over the same time period

If anyone bought the XP booster packs on special offer for AOE Online last week they are timed for 24 hours so you would lose the 1000 Empire Points (around £20 worth) until/unless you can get someone from support to refund you or give you those again.

GFWL was effectively retired last year I wonder how long MS will bother keeping the servers running as so many games depend on them still (69 in all) & some of the developers/publishers are no longer around so few could remove it this means a lot of unplayable GFWL games @ sometime in the future :(

GFWL is a scourge, hopefully no other games will ever use it.
Fortunately the games I am playing now are all using Steamworks. Although if I ever want to replay Dark Souls and cannot because of MS, I will be mightily angered (sometimes I dislike the censorship here, because angered does not sum up my feelings at all!).

I think Capcom were the last bastion of this and now they ditched it for Steamworks in DmC: Devil May Cry, there is no-one left implementing it.

But as to what happens in future when you try to play a GfWL game, I have no idea. I've seen a fake Xlive.dll for Bioshock 2 which prevents the GfWL subsytem from loading but then you won't get any achievements (not that that bothers me too much).

Yeah, I was playing Batman Arkham City the other day, it wouldn't connect, I just played offline.
So I can't see why you wouldn't be able to play Harley Quinns DLC Antar?

And people wonder why piracy is so high...*Sigh*

It's not piracy which is effecting the PC industry it's things like this, they are killing it off themselves. I think Microsoft know exactly what they are doing. Imagine if this was Xbox Live?

I just loaded up Batman AA and connected online right away.
Lucky you mate its been down & still is for most of us since 7th Feb around 100 hours outage now  Try playing an online GFWL services game not SP like Batman!! (which would have signed you in with your online GFWL profile in offline mode most likely).

No it said Online (I could also view my new messages), I will try a game that has multiplayer modes.

Installing Raccoon City as I did a complete format few days back so don't have much installed. But here is Batman which proves it logged in as last played date is today:

It won't let me on either, that's gonna really suck as all the Street Fighter titles use GFWL, and what's the point in a SF game without online?

:(

That explains it mate if you logon & have to redownload your GFWL profile recently it does work now I just tried with my Win 8 Partition & it works ok but not on Win 7 as its an older GFWL profile which I was using every day for AOE Online (which has cloud saves). The scary thing is this has been down for around 100 hours now for most players & deleting & redownloading your GFWL profile can cause you to lose save game progress as you know !

How odd, well if people delete and redownload the profile it should work then. But as you said at your own risk with saves lol. Just a quick pic as I said I was going to do it but it all works fine even multiplayer modes:

No way they can just shut GFWL down, to many games use it. I am not sure what they would do if they ever thought about it.

Still down for most of us I think its linked to the Halo2 server shutdown that was one of the first GFWL titles so its most likely not a good idea for MS to switch that server off over the weekend like they obviously just did & go home without waiting to see the results as this outage has lasted well over 4 days now

I tried to jump on Age of Empires Online last night and did some googling to find out why i couldnt login. Shocking that its been down for so long but im also glad its not just me having the problem.

Yep thats how I found out 3 days ago when AOE stopped working some of my friends had bought the 1000 Empire Points Booster Pack which is timed for 24 hours only
