750w/800w PSU Recommendation

I recently bought a machine with the following components:

Processor: Core I5-3570K Quad Core 3.4Ghz
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LX Mainboard
Memory: corsair 16GB Vengeance 1600 (think this is two sticks of 8GB)
Harddrive: 1x Samsung 256GB SSD, 1TB 7200RPM - 64Mb Cache, 1x 300GB SATA HDs
Graphics: ASUS 2GB GeForce GTX 660
PSU: Corsair 600W PC Builder - 80 Plus
Sound Card: Asus XONAR D2X/XDT 7.1 Channel SoundCard with PCIex interface
Disc Drives: 2x DVD/CD Writer (Super Writemaster SpeedPlus)
USB attachments: Keyboard, mouse, Wireless dongle

Over the last few days I have had the ASUS motherboard anti-surge protection shut the machine down three times due to unstable power supply unit. Now the only time I get this error is when I am running Silent Hill 3 through the PSCX2 emulator (I own the physical copy of the game). It runs for at least half an hour a time (and once for 1h 40m without problem) before this happens. Every other game I've tried in the emulator (Including Final Fantasy X which I thought would push the machine even further) runs perfectly fine and I have played at least 5 or 6 emulated games through to completion. Computer seems stable at all other times.

I take it this particular game combined with the emulator are putting strain on the machine and the PSU can't keep up power wise with all the components? I have asked around whilst I was waiting for my account to be validated here and have been told a few times that I should get a better PSU. I would be looking for something to allow me some room to insert updates and the like in the future. Maybe around 750/800w? And something not too noisy.

Sorry if it is an embarrassing spec and I sound like a complete novice! I really appreciate your suggestions.

I'll be sure to check those out. Thanks for the quick response.

From what I wrote above, do you also agree that it is likely to be a faulty PSU that is causing this? I know that is what the error message tells me but I have also read that the ASUS anti-surge can be problematic sometimes?

Your PSU is actually over specified for your system so has plenty of headroom, if this is a PSU issue its due to a fault not a lack of power.

It is entirely possible that its just a random combination of system events caused by the game/emulator causing a crash which the mobo determines is caused by power.

Oh and owning the physical game doesn't give you the right to break the law, just saying ;)

Oops... Obviously my understanding of the law isn't up to scratch... :o I'd use the disc but as it's being read it sounds like an airplane taking off. ;)

Hopefully it will just be the game then? If it is I can save myself some cash. I'll have to try a few of my other titles out when I get the opportunity.
