*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

These presentations are always quite amusing... dressing up features/software already present as if it's some kind of amazing future-changing technology.

Funniest bit for me was definitely the annoying American women explaining they can now browse their phone when they have "sticky fingers" though.

That was a low point. I also hated the part where one of the idiot actors was taking about S Translate and said it supported 9 languages... or 10 if you included American English and English "with a British accent".

Iphone hasnt been plastic for years?

Looking around the usual tech blogs there is a real sense of disappointment and of missed oppurtunity with the S4.

Caught up, having bypassed the S3 because my Note was adequate then got my N4 as a tide over spare I don't think I can bypass this while waiting for a Note3 so I guess I'll get one of these as soon as they're available.

Iyam Sony will do better than Ho because it has its total masculine design and waterproof, that's gonna be a massive feature for loads of folk add that to aggressive pricing and I can't see where Ho gets sales outside of the fan box.

The BB Z10 is old recycled hardware and you didn't complain about that! :p

I didn't complain about it because for the first time, a phone was released without having to rely on hardware buttons or capacitive buttons to navigate around the homescreen or around the phone itself...that in itself is revolutionary but the s4 is hardly revolutionary design wise:p

My main complaint with the s4 is that it looks exactly the same as the s3, that in itself is a fail for me.

You don't need buttons to navigate around most of android these days, install nova launcher etc. and you have loads of gesture stuff! :p

"total masculine design"

Youre really excited about getting the same plastic phone. Again.:)

That is totally user preference though, something that can't have a value put to it for the majority. When I saw the S3 first I thought it was a bit girly, especially the white one. Too curvy and cute looking. Then you hold it in your hand and opinions shift.

I'm leaning more towards getting the HO now but the fact that it's a bigger device & will come with a locked bootloader that will mean voided warranty if it's unlocked is making this a super hard decision.

Anyone knows if the UK version of the S4 will have the Wolfson DAC?

Correct, happened to me, Samsung won me over with their ergonomics which I initially hated now I think they're actually good especially with the Tardis like S4, defo a purchase not a chance I'll wait till Sept for a Note.

Havent looked through the thread admittedly, but is the graphics capability of this higher than the nexus4?

The US version will have the same SoC (quad core Krait & Adreno 320) but clocked higher so would imagine it would be a little faster than the Nexus 4. The international version has the PowerVR SGX 544MP3 (same as the iP5 but clocked a couple of hundred MHz higher). Considering how fast the 544MP3 is in the iP5 I would imagine it can at least keep up with the 320.

What does the Note 2 have? I know the S3 does but I find the Note 2 (stock kernel) sound output to be quite a bit better than the S3 (custom kernel).

What the hell HTC are voiding warranties for unlocked bootloaders now?! Wow that's so low, they just went down several notches in my books what a stupid decision.

If that is true then WTF are HTC thinking, didn't they promise that ALL bootloaders would be unlockable a while ago via their website?

Way to lose enthusiast customers, HTC...

What does the Note 2 have?

The same WM1811 chip as the GS3 has > http://www.wolfsonmicro.com/media_centre/item/wolfson_delivers_outstanding_audio_to_samsung_galaxy_note_10.1_and_samsung_/

Revolutionary for 2009? ;)

BB10 can get a little gimmicky and over complex at times but it's probably better than Sense and touchwiz... I'm waiting for a big sale to grab my Z10, it needs to be £200 or less to compete with the Nexus 4.

Been watching some more hands on videos and is it just me or does the phone look a bit slow/laggy when opening some apps? Has there been any mention of the software being an early/beta version? (I know that it will be getting 4.2.2 when it comes to release time) Saying that, any problems etc. will probably be sorted out by the time it actually goes on sale.

They really have bloated touchwiz to the extreme now though, a lot of cool stuff (mainly the gesture & camera things) but an awful lot of useless/gimmicky crap (imo)

Also, I noticed that the dialer is black/blue themed in one video (in the chinese review, it is white themed), however, the settings background, email app etc. are white still. So not sure, perhaps there is a theme option for the apps or whatever i.e. "dark" or "light"......

It's better looking than the S3, has a 1080p 5" screen in a smaller shell with a bigger battery, and an all round improved spec. Hardly the same plastic phone?

I'm more impressed with this then I was with the S3. Really looking forward to the Note 3 now. :)

It looks more or less the same, has a pointlessly high PPI for a screen which will probably look more or less the same and a faster processor to run the same OS as last years model for more or less the same user experience.
