Ok, situation is, I've bought something off a new eBay user, sent the payment, he has miss spelt his email address in paypal, so the payment just went straight in to pending, and hasn't changed since yesterday.

Recieved an message today asking for me to cancel the payment, and text him my paypal address, so that he can send an invoice. He said this is what ebay and paypal have told him to do). I've cancelled the payment for a start. I've texted him my paypal address, and I'm awaiting what happens.

Anyone encountered this before? Surely he could just now change the email address, then I could request a total from him, and when I send teh payment the second time, it should go straight in? Should I just contact eBay and see if everything is correct and they have told him to do that?

Cheers

U will get no seller protection/ebay won't get there fee's i bet next he will be asking for it as a PPG ;) Ebay won't of told him to do this 100%. Sounds like a scam/dodgy

I've recieved an invoice to my paypal now, but I've also sent eBay a message, so might hold off, before I do anything. Surely if I pay via my credit card via paypal like I normally do, I'll have some come back if I never recieve anything though? And can ask them to issue a chargeback?

If he sends you an invoice through eBay it will be fine. If sends you just an email then ask him to send the invoice through eBay.

Simple.

There is nothing stopping him changing the paypal address on ebay. Tell him to spell it correctly and you will resend payment via ebay.

DON'T DO IT ANY OTHER WAY

Gotta be careful of first time sellers.

I was so lucky people actually trusted me and who i was when i sold my first item for £90.

thats a lot to risk on an unknown seller.

This is nonsense. PayPal will cover it anyway under PayPal buyer protection, and the seller can't make a PayPal request for a gift payment.

Didn't notice we had to correct grammar and spelling too why we was at it *sigh* My 2c is wouldn't bother if a first time seller/buyer is messing you around

Just to bring closure to this; I recieved what I paid for today, and the repsonse I got from eBay was that was what they advised him, and that I would still be covered under their T&C's if I never recieved anything. So, not everyone is a scammer in the eBay world, which is good.
