Fitting a gigantic exhaust to a 3 or 4 cylinder car

If it has a function - i.e. helps improve the power/behaviour of the engine, then I don't really care. If it's just to make more noise then I agree it's pointless. However, I'm a tweaker and breather mods tend to be one of the first things I do.
 
I have a turbo 1.3 with a full 2.5/3" system from the cat back. Do you hate me? :p

Admittedly, I was um'ing and ah'ing on fitting the Japspeed system to the Starlet GT, but to honest, I needed an exhaust to get it on the road and driveable (it didn't come with one), and it was only £100 for what was pretty much a brand new example :D Just a little bit loud, I'd prefer something a little quieter that 'opened' up more in terms of sound when booting it. Strange thing is, Mum and Dad love it, but then again they have a supercharged 2ZZ Corolla with a full custom system (got 105db IIRC on an unofficial test! - WAY louder than mine)

Because the standard exhaust on the 182 is of poor quality, rusts quickly and a replacement is more expensive than a better aftermarket one.
 
I had a 3 inch system on the S4, which is pretty big, but due to the silencing it wasnt that much louder than standard.

So the gripe really is about under silenced systems
 
Must admit I had a bloody big system on my old S2 RS Turbo Escort, it burbled though, sounded sooo much nicer than today's average Corsa!! :o :D
 
My brother is currently running a very clean 1990 Fiesta RST, it has a sensible aftermarket exhaust on it, but that turbo cvh does have such a distinctive sound, which sadly isnt heard much at all any more.

You had to put a fairly noisy system on them so the noise from the back drowned out the dreadful din from that CVH up front!!

Chronic Vibration & Harshness is what it should stand for!! :D
 
Why does an MX5 get an exception? Loud exhausts are ok for hairdressers? Seems unfair.
 
It's all about the 3inch decat pipe :) turbo to backbox , with a nice big filter
