Whats The best way of trying to stop it? Its not amazingly frustrating as i wear headphones but after all its still the loudest thing in the pc... Would Running a bench mark for around 12 hours help or would it make it worse?

1. Are you 100% sure it's the graphics card and not the PSU? Most of the time it's actually the PSU.

2. Sometimes stressing can resolve, but rarely. If you know which coils are whining and have access to them, then you could put some nail polish or strong glue on them.

3. Which Asus GTX580 do you have? I'm fairly sure the Matrix Platinum has solid caps.

I have the Matrix Platinum chances are its the PSU then?

Yes indeed. I had the GTX 580 Matrix Platinum and thought it was whining during games and benchmarks but it was in fact my OCZ ZX1000 PSU.
Use a toilet/kitchen roll bit of cardboard as a hearing aid and point it around your case to confirm it's coming from the PSU. Best place to listen on the PSU is the exhaust vent.

Thanks Mate, Ill Go Look Now, Is a Whining PSU a problem? Can i trust it to not short my system out or is it just safer to replace Soon as?

Nope, not a problem at all, just annoying to listen to. But if you're like me, you can't really hear it over the gunfire and explosions :p

Depends how loud it is... I had to send my first AX850 back due to a very loud whine that occured right at medium load. OK at idle and at full bench stress, but at gaming load would whistle so loud I could hear it from outside the room! The replacement is completely silent.
