** PRE ORDER YOUR NEXT GENERATION CONSOLE AT OVERCLOCKERS UK **

It's a shame that your system prevents you from actually being competitive in this area. Your computer system is costing you money. If you could actually compete with anyone else (i.e. small deposit with full balance taken on shipping) you might actually get some buyers. As it is, it just makes the whole company sound pretty unprofessional and unreliable. And on the first glance: money grabbing. As someone else said, it should be about convenience to the customer, not the other way around.

Personally, I wouldn't buy or put down a (non-refundable) deposit before I know the final price you are going to charge. Overclockers aren't well known for being competitive in the gaming department and I can quite easily see your final price being higher than elsewhere. It seems to me a good business decision would have been to hold off until the final price was announced (probably at E3) and then taking pre-orders; that is, of course, unless you intentionally plan to charge more to people 'locked in'. Some people might not have even minded paying full up front then.

I am certainly not going to give anyone £300 now - just for their convenience when I can give someone else £25 for the same service.

competitive in the gaming market?

surely you mean pc components market?

they only have 2 items with more than 10 in stock

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=1720&catid=2448

the majority of them only have 1 or 2 in stock.

i have said this many times, their console gaming section is only there to prevent competitor talk on the forums.

the stock levels and extreme overpricing prove this. the majority if not all of those items are 25% or more cheaper elsewhere.

fifa 13 - £43

i bought it for around £25 ultimate edition more than 6 months ago lmao.

Why would they go to the trouble of stocking products just to prevent competitor talk, when they could just make it a rule?

because their rules were that competitors also have to stock the same products or similar products.

explain why a company who literally has hundreds of customers on a daily basis would stock 1 item each within a section of their business which is closely related to its main one?

before when i posted about this they would sometimes have 15 items, 13 of them out of stock and the 2 in stock with 1 piece each, it was laughable tbh how blatant it was.

they have over 10 £1000 graphics cards in stock, yet most of their console items costing peanuts only have 1 in stock.

honestly how do you explain that?

You're gonna have an expensive and busy day if they both get released on the same weekend ;) I can't pre-order jack as I'm not even going to be living in this country when they finally release!

They are just place holders at the moment. I'm going to see what info gets released in the coming months and may cancel one depending on what info is true and what isn't.

OCUK owners.

Despite one of them being mentioned on this site basically daily I got an infraction for mentioning they had it at almost £600 in this thread(not using their name directly either)..... after one of the MODS mentioned it was that price at the same place...

So mod mentions its same cost somewhere else, and I said yeah but that place that offers it at £600 also doesn't take the cash straight away, infraction apparently, for something loads of people do every day, infact since the seeming rule change not that long ago I've seen that particular shop mentioned hundreds of times by names, maybe the rule changed back, I have no idea.

The irony of this thread is that it's pushed me over the edge to pre-order a PS4 from a supermarket. Polar opposite of the original intention has just happened. Handed over £20, but fully refundable if I change my mind.

lol good choice on all counts I'd say . That did make me chuckle..!!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry over the two numpties who threw £600 at this last night. I'd have sworn Laurel and Hardy were dead.

Not really concerned about the price OCUK are offering as I'm not pre ordering here, but does anyone else think there are something wrong with these figures:

£300.00 inc VAT
£250.00 ex VAT

...being pedantic now :D

well 10% of 250 is 25 so 2 of those on top of 250 is 300. That's how I worked it out anyway. If you worked it out as 300 - 20% then that's like having VAT on the VAT, as well as the product.
