Hi there I'm thinking of upgrading my graphics card it does the job but I'd like better FPS on some of the most graphically demanding games.

How much of a FPS improvement do you think I would get from upgrading my GTX580 to a 780 or maybe even a 770?

I have a 3570k @ 4.5 so there shouldn't be a bottleneck.

im considering 580 sli to 780 sli, and after i read a few benchmarks and articles i read somewhere that nvidia states that a single 780 is 70% better than a single 580

Up to a 670, 780 is atrocious value for money unless you're a yank, us Brits got shafted hard with these cards, but the sting isn't as harsh on the 670. The performance difference is minor at best and the 780 isn't much more future proof than the 670. The FPS gains from a 780 will be considerable over the 580 but negligible over the 670.

Found some benchmarks on youtube of a GTX580 vs GTX770

Crysis 2

43 average FPS GTX580
66 average FPS GTX770

Bioshock infinite

49 average FPS GTX580
80 average FPS GTX770

Quite a performance increase I think I'll go with a GTX770. Any recommendation on which GTX770 to buy?

I believe the msi gaming edition is on two for £299, great cooler backed by a great warranty.

I thought the msi warranty was great. After having used it myself, it was pretty crap tbh. Over 28 Days i waited and msi did nothing and in the end ocuk had to give me a cash refund.

That's unlucky mate :(

Had two rma's with them late last year, one took 11 working days and the other was around 5 weeks as it spilled over xmas.

Still, 28 days is a fair whack better then you get from some board partners...

I suppose it worked out ok in the end, as i sold the games that came with it so i actually only ended up paying £270 for the 7970 and i got £299.99 refunded. :D

I was still disappointed with the rma service though, especially after they're supposed to be one of the good ones.

My msi warrentee took 32 days in total from when they said they'd received it to when they posted it back, this is from another retailer that isnt took dissimilar from the word scam but I believe most of the fault was msi

The performance difference between the GTX 670 - GTX 780 is huge. Much more performance, if you find a decent priced GTX 780 it is well worth it. It is easily the best X80 card released, performance and quality wise it is unmatched apart from the GTX Titan.

Got my 780 for same price as GTX 680's went at launch. very happy with it, if you can wait for prices to drop a bit do that. Aside from Titan it is a considerable step up from all other current cards. (I have tried them all :-D )

I can confirm the Gtx780 is a good deal faster than gtx 670. I just went from Gtx 670 3 way sli to GTX 780 sli last friday and the Gtx780 are actually a bit faster which surprised me since I had doubts about if they could match the 3x GTX 670's.

NOPE. The value of them is plain bad in general. We don't get shafted at all.

We pay the US price plus VAT and give or take 5%, the same as every other card's price.

No it's not, and the 780 is a lot more future proof than the 670.

Come on, at least have a clue before giving advice.

The 780 has more RAM and higher memory bandwidth than the 670, which alone would make a fairly big difference when it comes to being future proof, or rather we should be saying longevity as future proof is largely meaningless.

The greater RAM quantity, memory bandwidth and much stronger GPU contribute to the 780's longevity, considering the 670 is already being limited to some extent by its memory bandwidth. With the new consoles, the memory will become an issue very quickly.

The FPS gains from a 780 will be considerable over the 580 but negligible over the 670.

Incorrect, especially if you overclock, which you really should be doing if you're spending mega money on a 780.

Gotta wait for better drivers, ones that can hold the overclock. Mega overclock or no overclock I get display driver crashes.

hi m8 well i went from a pair of 480's in sli to a 780 and the 780 is quite a bit faster than sli 480's, so a 580 is around a %10 increase on a 480, so i would hazard a guess at nearly double the performance of your single 580 m8

I went from AMD 6970 Crossfire to a single Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 3 and the difference is amazing, Not so much the max fps but more so in average and minimum fps just so much smoother in games.

GTX770 in SLI in reviews I've seen is just brilliant and scales very well, this will be a nice upgrade for me in the future.
