Ok so I've posted on here before about this build but thought I'd start a new thread for this. I want to spend maximum £1000 on this build (and I'm working towards free shipping) and so far I've spent about £450 on this
YOUR BASKET
2 x Samsung S23B300BS 23" Widescreen LED Monitor - Glossy Black £119.99 (£239.98)
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £84.95
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £49.99
1 x Xigmatek Asgard Pro Gaming Case - Black £32.99
1 x LG GH24NSB0 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £17.99
1 x TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Express Adapter (TL-WN881ND) £16.99
Total : £470.72 (includes shipping : £23.20).

So all I need now is the good stuff. CPU, GPU, Mobo, RAM and PSU.
I would prefer an intel build and I'm not going to be overclocking or xfiring.
It's going to be used for light gaming (SimCity, Star trek online) that I want to run at high settings.
As you can see I'm going to be using 2 monitors and also I'm going to hook up my TV but I'll be gaming on just one of the monitors.
I've got £500 for this stuff maximum but if I can spend less and still get what I want then that would be great. Thanks
(btw I'm not going to be buying this until the end of November so I know prices/offers will differ but I just want to get a rough idea of what I'm going to get/spend)

are the i5-k and cpu cooler really necessary if I'm not overclocking? And does the RAM need to be that fast? Would say 1600MHz RAM do just as well?

Haswell has a good IMC so higher speed memory works well & there is very little difference in price between them and 1600mhz.

but my main reason for this thread was to get it below £500 but keep the i5 (I know the PSU is out of stock atm)

Why 2 monitors ?

I'm doing both a Computer Science degree and work as a software developer so when I'm programming I prefer to have visual studio open on 1 monitor and then whatever else on the other (Chrome, Word, excel etc.)
