HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST-OR-VTX3D HD 7950 V3 Boost X-Edition

Sounds like it cant hurt for you to have a good read about overclocking and what works best for the 6950 cards, just out of interest is it a reference 6950? If so why not look into unlocking it to a 6970.

Edit* Sorry just read your sig and noticed its an xfx double d 6950.

I will definitely read about oc'ing again, I've always known about it and how it's done etc, but seeing as I can finally do it, I will not hesitate to do my research. I have seen a lot of tutorials regarding flashing it but I've never got the courage to do so in case anything goes wrong, but I don't think I will because I'm going to be buying a 7950 soon. :)

Thanks for the information :)
I'll try maxing out the memory clock (the increase isn't that much) and I'll OC the core clock to 1.1GHz, if I run into problems I'll lower it to 1GHz and if I still have problems the voltage will be increased (I don't know how much by though...) :p

This'll be my first attempt of overclocking with a large difference as I have been restricted before by the safety limits.

If you cannot use MSI Afterburner, I would advice you to give a try to TRIXX.

I use that on my 7950 atm, and works like a dream, while is easy to set a fan profile also.

I cannot post "much" of overclocking atm, however the 7950 PCS+ works at 1150/1400 with 1.13v. I will try to hit 1200/1500+ over the weekend when I have the time to fine tune it.

Another vote for the HIS, I currently use CCC to overclock my HIS IceQ to 1100/1400 +20, seams to work just fine, no need for Afterburner or any other third party tools so far. Just took it out the box, installed, tested in game then loaded the amd catalyst control and enabled Overdrive, set the sliders as above and job done, played Tomb Raider and Aliens Vs Colonial Marines @1080p Max settings for an hour or two with out a single issue or artefact :)

Sounds interesting, I'll look into it when I get on my PC tomorrow

Awesome, that's the exact setup I've been planning to use when I get mine after browsing different forums. I can't wait to go through the Tomb Raider campaign again, but this time at max settings :D
