Gratitude these days!

What exactly are they going to learn... they probably still think hes the 'thief' after hanging up on them.

Having to drive out there after being told where the phone is/where it was found would more likely make the penny drop so to speak...

Why would I waste my time helping them make the penny drop? I don't really like being accused of things, so they can enjoy their pile of mangled electronics for their troubles.

No one is going to steal your phone then call you.

I know it's obvious but you would think that they would be grateful for your call. Shocking attitude.

They deserved no favour from you after that, prob the best thing to do.

Why would I waste my time helping them make the penny drop?

you stated in the previous post 'these people need to learn'... they're not going to learn anything if they're still left completely unaware as to what has happened and still believe the person they're talking to has stolen the phone.

I'd like to think I would give the father a few choice words and at least try to make him understand what an idiotic reaction it is to your attempted good deed. I would then place the phone back on the ground, and depending on how I felt, perhaps in a slightly more 'risky' position then get on with my day.

What a ridiculous attitude. Hope she never got it back.

I suspect in that situation I would have done something like hand it in at CS desk in store or if it wasn't out of my way the police station*, possibly giving the store/desk officer the home number from the phone - and leaving a note taped to it suggesting their little darling might want to not leave it in the car park in future.

That way the idiots aren't out a phone/making a claim on the insurance, and possibly they learn to be a little more polite and take care of it more carefully.

*My local station is just a couple of hundred yards away, but I don't think it's manned most of the time (instead it's a 15 mile round trip through heavy traffic).

Maybe they were trying to get a new phone from insurance, having "lost"it, and by funding it and trying to return it, you've ruined their carefully laid plans? :p

I would have used the phone to create a massive facebook party invite at the parents' house - everyone invited, system, pa, dj sasha, carl cox, free booze etc - then handed it in the police station

Would also have checked for pictures, then cackled at the dad, telling him its going on one of the less salubrious tubes.

(wouldn't have done it, but would have made them panic :D )

P.s on a side note, what is it with people taking pictures of themselves and sending it to their BF/GFs? Surely they must realise that it's a potential tinderbox waiting to happen?

I don't quite get the breaking it or throwing it responses.... they got a bit angry on the phone there is no need to break a phone costing a few hundred over that... there is obviously also no need to do them any favours like hanging onto it or dropping it round... telling them you're leaving it where you found it - in ASDA carpark should be sufficient... they've then got to faff about driving out there and looking for it but you've not been a complete arse to them.

Nah, sod that. Being a dick is an expensive privilege.

Would also have checked for pictures

This

Handed it in the customer services desk and tell them to collect it.

Then this... possibly with a bit of facebook/twitter first.

Seems like a lovely lass lost her phone though, my wife dropped hers getting in the car, we got it back when looking for it after the woman who found it rung my number (that i message to it with a find/lock my iphone app thing) so we gave her £20 as a thank you.

atleast you had good intentions to start off with, i think most people would do the same if they tried to be nice and got abused for trying it.

you stated in the previous post 'these people need to learn'... they're not going to learn anything if they're still left completely unaware as to what has happened and still believe the person they're talking to has stolen the phone.

Presented with the chance of having the phone returned safely, they chose to be rude and made accusations. Result = phone being turned into a pile of metal and plastic. Lesson learnt = don't be a dick to someone trying to help you.

I'd have given them both a rollocking and told them to pick it up from the CS desk.
Or depending on my mood, I'd have told them to go **** themselves and lobbed the phone under the nearest bus.
