Hi all,

So yesterday afternoon, I was playing games as usual and suddenly something in my PC went pop and the whole system shut down. Upon restarting, there was no image to the monitor, so I switched the HDMI to my Igpu output and the image returned, only now there is no gtx 590 listed under 'display adapters' in the device manager, only an unknown device under 'other devices'.

I took it out today and stripped off the back plate and water block but could see no physical damage to either side of the card. I thought perhaps it could be the PCIE slot but the card does not work in either of the 2 slots I tried it in. Is it safe to say my beloved 590 has kicked the bucket?

My 590 has only ever had a very mild overclock on it which was stable if this matters. Should also note that this overclock has been on for at least 8 months.

Indeed it does sound like the gpu died. Do you have any other PC you can test it in, or perhaps another card to try as Adam suggested?

I don't unfortunately, my first thought was it was dead but I thought i'd explore every avenue before i make the call.

Long time no speak :)

Do you have another gpu to test in the slot to rule everything else out?

Long time indeed. I don't unfortunately, just gonna cut my losses, switch sides and get a 280x I think ;)

I stripped the card down taking of the water block and back plate, spent a good half hour going over the card and didn't find anything that resembles physical damage.
