Started my season in L1 tonight, beat 2 of the CH relegated teams 3-2 and 4-0 in the first 3 games:cool: Hoping my new Czech GK will keep me in good form hes made some crazy saves already

edit: just beat Swansea on pens in the cup too, on awesome form!

They are pretty much all instructions towards the same end really. The board requirement was to play possession football, and all of those instructions work towards that....slow tempo, play from the back, work the ball into the box etc.

I really like the slightly deeper player and club negotiations in this years game.

PS. Starting to regret all of the promotion bonuses I used to persuade my players to sign new contracts for a cheaper wage!!!...for example, Orlandi was on 16kpw, so I offered him a new contract of 12kpw, but with a 60% promotion bonus:o...most of my players have similar contracts! oh WOW! 60%!! Holy cow lol.. You will go bankrupt. I negotiated my contracts down slightly salary wise, but I made sure if they didn't move that much that the promotion bonus was a max 5% :D I've done that will all players AND backroom staff as I have a lot of those too now. 14 scouts for instance. All of them on 30%+ increase if promoted would have killed me! I've been exceptionally careful with wages this time round. If a player appears too greedy I try to negotiate once. If I fail, then I let them go. There is no loyalty in my camp :D

I've just splashed £8 million on a right winger. He had a release fee - now before with 13 you could exploit it and pay 0 and then 48 months of whatever. Not now! SI have changed it to be more realistic. I had to pay £2 million up front with £6 million to follow.

Actually.. I've just thought about what you said. Although 60% is high, you've managed to save a stack of cash in the first instance.. Hmm, interesting.

Oh it is definitely a tactic that can save you wage budget at the time, and being a lot under-budget is very good for the future...but the wage budget for this season, which I originally thought was quite good, is actually much smaller now that pretty much all of my players wages have increased!
 
I have gone to play this tonight and it is now listed in my "other games" section in my steam library....I only have the option to purchase it not play......I have tried re-entering my activation key but it says i already own the game.....

any idea's please guys?
 
I noticed a while ago my kit sponsor was going to run out then forgot about it, just noticed it did run out but now I don't have one at all - surely not right? Had no info messages regarding it.

Gave up with my tactics and borrowed someone elses, used it in jan till may and lost almost every game apart from a few draws, still avoided relegation managing to get to 38 points but quite annoyed as this tactic was very suitable for my players but still the me would rob me predictably. Oh well I was approached by arsenal so goodbye wolves.

Just played a game I keep reloading while I try figure out what im doing wrong, keep losing 3-0+ against Chelsea but realised it isn't my tactics its a cheating AI as it doesn't matter what I do the outcome is always the same which is strange considering we are similar and im classed as favourite.

I've noticed something weird with my save games.

Previously I was playing my save on both my PC and my Mac Book and using cloud sync to go between devices depending on where I was. It's stopped transferring between them now :(

I wonder if it's since the update because it was definitely working before.
 
Hi guys, i got this game from nuuvem, have a slight issue with steam. It works fine on my main comp but my laptop says its region locked. I can use a VPN to play but thats no help if i cant get on to the net.
Its odd that its fine on one pc though.


That aside, im playing with sheffield wednesday in my 5 season now. Managed to win the champions league, three times, the fa cup twice, league cup once, club world cup twice, super cup twice and the premier league once.
Got my club with world wide status as well and a small ground increase to 56m. Just thought id share that with you :P
 
What really cheeses me off with the football manager series is how the other title contenders hardly seem to drop any points. Spurs have won ten on the trot from our first ten games, i smell bullssssssssssh

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. ;) I bet they were all 1-0 as well.
 
Why is that so hard to believe?

The results are calculated based on a number of factors - the most important one being the quality and strengths of the player. It's also based on tactics and formation, best suited to the squad. But this is more for the human player - the ai will focus on the player rather than the tactic. I had a run of excellent seasons as QPR, in 13. I would win most things season by season. I would have 10 wins on the trot too. My tactics were fluid but more importantly, i had world class players. But it took me years to get to that stage. Maybe Totters have got it right.

Its pretty stupid at times though, especially the games where you absolutely dominate and they have 1 shot and win, happens way too often.
 
I would expect my title rivals to be winning most games, otherwise they shouldn't be rivals. The AI teams have runs of poor form as well as good so I find it tends to balance itself out
 
I had a load of work to do, so I went on holiday for a while to see what would happen. My assistant got us (Bees) promoted into the Champ at the first time of asking... then I intervened with a few summer transfers, and then went on holiday again to see what would happen. He's only gone an won the play-offs...
 
Did it! Derby are promoted, won the league with 2 games to go. Also, I managed to keep Will Hughes! Time to sell the deadweights, buy a new striker (I want Danny Ings), new GK (Marek Steck), Micheal Keane NEEDS to come in permanent, along with Adam Smith and a new full-back and centre-half, maybe a new wide player and central midfielder and DM...So...not a great deal...

I have yet to purchase this years. Maybe because I'm not in uni now and have better things to be doing with my time. :rolleyes: :D :D

Might wait until another month before I get it.
 
Honest opinions, is 2014 actually worth the purchase?

Feels weird not having picked this up yet, but the lack of meaningful updates and release bugs on previous versions have really made me hold off the purchase.

In my opinion, yes. Compared to this stage in previous editions, this is more stable and less buggy. There are still some fairly big problems with the match engine, but nothing anywhere near as bad as 2013 when that first landed. They've fixed a lot of notable issues since the beta.
