So I got my rig working and everything is fine and dandy.
I can hear the slight buzzing of the H100i fans, and was wondering would it be worth changing over to Noctuas which I already have?

My understanding is that the Corsair fans have two variants (one is AF and other is S-something?).

Will it significantly change the performance of the H100i if I use the wrong type of fan?

Upgrading the fans will be a good thing. If you have Noctuas it should be fine to use them.
How are you using the fans? Push/pull or just push?

Corsair fans are AF's and SP's..

AF's are designed for Air Flow.. They are best used as case fans where the movement of air is important.

SP's are Static Pressure fans. Static pressure is important for heatsinks and radiators. These are specially designed for that purpose.

The fans that come with the h100i are SP120L's. They are a 'cheaper' version of the retail SP120's. I think there fan speed is also faster. The standard sp120's can be slower and quieter.

^ This.

Cavallino - Try connecting the fans directly to the MB fan header and see if the buzzing will persist. Also, are those 3pin or 4pin PWM fans?

One of my Corsair H100i fans came badly constructed. It had the ring a little out of shape with the blades on a section nearly touching the frame. It had a pronounced wobble and grindy noise when I tried it (whether plugged into pump or mobo). The second fan was "ok" but cheap and loud. Radiator fins were bent in several sections.

Corsair really needs to check who is building this stuff for them, because there seems to be no individual inspection of each product. I hope they realize how important this is because it can bring a company down, regardless of how good the stuff works when it's properly constructed. When you order parts for a build and everything is ship-shape except for one component, guess which component you won't be ordering again for another build?

I stuck Noctua's on my H100i, and bliss... they very likely don't cool as much as the original H100i fans, but I don't care about a few degrees if the difference in noise is so pronounced. So yes, I'd say it's totally worth it.

Wow nice responses from all. Many thanks.
I will answer each one on Thursday (as I'm out all day and night tomorrow).

The grinding noise is barely noticeable to be frank. Certainly wasn't as bad as the grinding coming from the previous psu I had.

I absolutely love this h100i. But I guess it's now a matter of fine tuning aspects of the case which I will do over time.

But as I said I will review all responses and let you know what the latest is from my side. Thanks again folks.
