Hello all, apologies if similar questions have popped up before :-) - I'm putting together a nas build (finally! Had a few topics a while back for info etc) and am going to be purchasing the parts within the next few days, one of the products I'm looking at has been discontinued, the motherboard, after trailing through the internet low and behold ocuk have some in stock as b-grade products, is their any way of finding out in advance why it's b-grade? (such as software codes have been used or something more serrious etc) thanks for any help in advance and of course - Merry Christmas!

B-Grade boards are usually a bare board and an IO shield and nothing more
I've bought a couple over the years and never had a problem.

When you say bare board - idm not having.the accessories - have a lota sata cables etc but do you get any stand offs with any of you b grade purchases over the years? Thanks for the quick reply btw :-)

It's pot luck and they're unable to tell you what you're getting before you receive it.

For example, I ordered one mobo which came all alone (no IO shield or anything) in a plain brown box and had to rma it due to it having an issue.
I then ordered an identical board to replace it which arrived in the proper retail box with all the accessories.

Hmmm now that seems a little more off putting, I wouldnt like to pick up a board that has an issue and just being resold :-/

Ive brought a b grade motherboard from here and its never had any problems, It came without a box and no i/o shield and other accessory, Other than that it was in perfect condition, Even had a preset ocuk overclock saved on it still :)

Also if I recall I message cs to see if they knew what would be included and they said they had no idea but if there was no IO shield let them know and they would sort one out for me.

Don't be too put off. Most of them should work with no issues.
Whether you get the necessary accessories is another question, but they do give you fair warning.

B-Grade should just be products that have been returned for very minor reasons.

The good people at Overclockers wouldn't tarnish their name for the sake of selling broken products for pocket change

Have you tried the MM, at least that way you know what you`re getting.

As already mentioned, it is the luck of the draw, as to whether it is 100% working and whether it comes boxed or not. It seems OCUK don`t have the time to test all(if any) returned items, only items returned via RMA.

True I see your point luke.thx

I'm nowhere near the members market :-(

Naw think i'd about 100, im more of a lurker :-P tho have been slowly trying to get to the evil 1000 requirmeny.;-) lol, dont think Il hit the mark before I get my parts, on a side note, are this weeks daily deals their big after.xmas sale or will they be in addition to.the weekly sale? Long story short - living in NI I get the short end of the stick when it comes to postage, so I might have 5 parts with the lowest price across 5 different stores, but once you add up postage it can sometimes be cheaper to buy slighter more expensive parts all from the one place and save on overall postage - I know I'm not the only person with this issue dont worry not a complaint.;-)

I`m not sure about the Christmas sales, I think it`s just weekly and daily deals. Plus the Advent calender deals.
Don`t you get Free shipping? As I thought NI was now included or have I misread that.
What mobo are you after?

Hmm buy now or see if any deals pop up. Lol, the whole build is
cpu - g2030 (cant find the 't' revision anywhere so went non t)
Mobo - p8h77-i
Ram - 8gb crucial ballistic 1.35v
Hard drive - 3tb nas drive (only to start)
Case - bitfenix prodigy 'yang'
O/S - freenas

Went for cheap parts that are also low powered , with a decent ammount of sata ports for more hds

Case looks like a good.call, and that mobo is a lot cheaper, more pci.and ram slots - whats the catch?

What do mean, "whats the catch"? :D

The only problem with the mobo is, you need to have the latest bios installed to be able to use an IB Cpu. But if you ask in CS, they will most likely do it for you.
