It's been quite a year

Yes, but if people go by common dieting guidelines which most people have been indoctrinated to then you'll think avoiding high fat foods will me make you lose weight, when we've been accustomed to consuming animal fats for 100k+ years.

Like those nonsensical 'twinkie diets' are baseless considering there are no nutritional value to eating them, considering weight loss is always a long term thing as the OP has shown.

Eat less = consume less calories, it's not any more complicated than that and I didn't suggest so. So yeah, I get what you're nitpicking at, but you knew what I meant the first time round.

I applaud you for doing it the "right" way, with diet and exercise.

I'm guessing you've changed your lifestyle now, which should allow you to keep it off

Excellent job, well done. If I get to that much loss, I'll be very happy. I'm currently at about seven and a half stone down and still dropping.

That truly is fantastic, I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures of the change :)

Out of curiousity and I know this is a little inappropriate to ask, but how has your skin reacted to that. Has it shrunk with the weightloss. A stone a month nearly is very rapid.

I have a bit of excess skin but it really doesn't bother me. It's far better than having all that fat still there.I did lose weight fast but once I got into a routine it literally just dropped off at the start.

Great job. Was this down simply to a controlled diet, exercise, or a combination of the both?

On the 16th Feb 2013 I weighed 26st 8lb and I was losing on average 4lb per week and that was without any extra exercise and was purely diet control and will power. After a 2 months I reintroduced cycling back into my life and I really enjoyed going on long bike rides and cycling to work (only 1.5 miles but it helps). After 6 months I braved joining the gym.

Losing weight really is 80% diet and 20% exercise.

Well I did actually start the process of going down the surgery route but decided to do it 'properly'. Considering I've been dieting a year I'm still not bored of it yet and I'm still planning to continue, I think it's fairly certain that my lifestyle has completely changed and should help me keep it off. It's remarkable on how much I've learnt about myself during this process and change.

Well done lads, I lost 5 stone back about 10 years ago and it changed my life, while I have put on a stone and a half in that time and trying to get shot off it, its still nothing like how I used to live as a proper fatty.

A very big well done to you indeed.!

I managed to lose 4.5 stone in round 5 months and went from 38" waist trousers to 32". For a while I was wearing track suit bottoms most of the time until I got down to a weight that I thought that I could maintain. I ended up putting about half a stone back on, as I got a little too thin.

I bet that you have had to buy several sets of clothes as you have lost the weight.?!

As I do have chronic back issues I had to rely mostly on diet, but to be frank that was my biggest issue anyway. For me it was volume of food not necessarily the type and, thankfully, drink wasn't that big an issue.

Learning to control portion sizes and even though I lost my weight a couple of years ago I still need to watch how much I put on a plate, or the snacking through the day.

Again excellent result and I really wish you all the best in maintaining your weight, you certainly look much better for it. :)

Congrats! You look great.

I've lost 6st upto now so can imagine how much better you feel after loosing 10! Keep up the hard work :)

Good job. Nice to see someone who's lost weight posting a before pic of them that isn't desaturated with them looking depressed. It's so misleading.

Well done, it's an impressive feat. I lost about 4.5 stone over 4 months before christmas last year, i did it the cheating way with a food replacement diet though. I'm glad i did it, but christ it wasn't easy.

Lets just say I once bought 58" trousers :S

Being able to buy clothes in 'normal' shops has to be the best feeling so far. The amount of clothes I have gone through is insane but totally worth it. My wardrobe now is so empty tho lol.
