You're completely ruling out the fact that Sturridge had far more work to do than someone taking a spot kick, in the fact he either had to shoot from a fairly wide angle and or pull the ball back into the box.
I'm sure you would be just as accepting of another player taking a dive in the box against Liverpool, even when that player still has the opportunity to stay on his feet.
I could justify if Suarez went to ground under Afro Elbow's challenge, because there was contact and Suarez certainly lost some momentum, but there's no excusing Sturridge going to ground.
I'm not sure what you're getting at with your 2nd sentence. Surely that only backs up the point that it was a moronic tackle for Vidic to make because as you say, there was very little danger.
Your point on the Suarez incident only backs up why strikers go to ground too easily too. I've been saying for years that if a player's fouled then he has every right to go down because if they don't, refs won't award fouls.
And you can criticise Sturridge as much as you want, just as I would criticise any player that done something similar to Liverpool but I'd also be criticising any Liverpool defender that made the challenge Vidic made. Just because Vidic doesn't wipe Sturridge out it doesn't make it a good challenge - in fact officials say it's a foul as he's impeded Sturridge regardless of not actually tripping him. There wasn't a serious enough goal threat to warrant Vidic making such a desperate tackle. it was a stupid challenge that if he attempts 100 times, he'd give away 99 pens. If you can't see that you're blind.
It's not just that, if he's pushed/sacked he can always claim that he was not given enough time and that he was on the brink of greatness, if he quits he's as good as admitting that he's not good enough.

No mate. The only thing Sturridge could have done was shoot when he shimmied to the right of Vidic, Vidic had to go for the block. Instead Sturridge moves the ball even further away from the goal into a non threath and cons the ref. Utterly wrong on every level.
Go to 6 mins, you'll be able to see quite clearly.
Edit, 6.25 is the crucial moment actually, Vidic anticipates the shot..

Vidic thought he was going to shoot by the looks of it, i suppose it's a case of damned if u do and foul him and damned if u dont and let him score or give a penalty away.

Absolute nonsense. There were 2 incidents in the first half very similar to the 3rd penalty and on both occasions Jones has pushed Sturridge wide and then tried to block the shot. Vidic doesn't push Sturridge wide, he's just lunged into the tackle.
Shami's right and this thread's going to be closed if we carry on so the last thing I'll say is that I hope every Utd defender does what Vidic does in that situation because they'll be giving away pens every game.

Maybe NP will be a good player in the EPL - but he hasnt got any experience in the top league yet - but he is certainly doing well in the Championship.
Majority of his games out loan have been as a striker, not as a midfielder (supposed to be his preferred position).
Also this way his head doesnt get polluted by the dressing room in-fighting and hopefully can come back next season (who ever is in charge) and be a "free" squad upgrade.
It's amazing, you tell people at the start it's going to a train wreck, they argue, it goes on to be train wreck, they deny it's a train wreck, when he's removed and replaced they will then go on to refer to the bad times under Moyes and how they must never be allowed to happen again.

Given the state of the squad left by Fergie, it was in all liklihood going to be a train wreck anyway (and Utd were never going to appoint anyone like Mourinho etc straight after SAF)
Whether it was going to be this bad under anyone else is debatable, but given how much everyone else invested in the last couple of years in comparision its not that surprising.
