Affordable 4k Build - Need advice on cooling

Batches that people are still getting hold of and having issues with. Either AMD or Nvidia there is something wrong with their TwinFrozr fan bearings.

There is even a thread about how their Lighting 290X is failing due to some bug in the newer drivers.

They could have been catches bought ages ago, they say the issue dates back to last year (batch wise) and only become apparent under certain conditions. There was/is obvoiusly something wrong with their bearings but its isn't affecting everyone.

Surely that's just a driver Issue, not a hardware fault, that could be AMD sided too.

Its not certain conditions! The MSI rep tried to claim it was 100% fan load under mining, yet it is not, people who do everyday stuff and just game have oil leaks. Probably one reason he hasnt been back since as he was proved wrong.

A few posts from that Lightening thread,

Its odd how it is only the lightening card that has this fan stopping issue.

So what certain conditions are these? using a product? :p

Interesting about the MSI Cards and unfortunate as i do like the twin frozr cards :/ I wonder when Z97 drops they will actually have some decent ITX or MATX Boards this run..

Big thanks again Doom, I think I will just go with air (along with that cooler for the GPU). Worst case, if the noise is to much, I can do a water loop at a later date when I have the cash.

In terms of waiting for Z97 and the refresh, that's what I will do is a good call. Just be nice to have the option later to go for broadwell, to many times have I bought a MB that can't take upgrades which has caused me to then have to get a new MB every time I wanted to upgrade.

Expect to see another post in a months time, then a tasty project log :D.

Thanks chaps!
