Gpu 2 drops to 500mhz on the core in some games (payday2 for example) and I get horrendous texture flickering. At default 1150/1600 they seem okay. How do I stop the 2nd gpu from dropping its clocks? I have the clocks set to stock in MSI AB already.

Mine behaves a bit differently. I think because the cards are not being pushed very hard power play is just knocking the second gpu down a gear until it's needed. I don't want to disable power play, but I might see if that fixes my problem.

Might have sussed it. I disabled xfire earlier to test if my texture flickering was related to my 1st or 2nd gpu, and that unticked the "synchronise settings" box. Will retest tonight and see if that sorts it.

One other solution for you here Dev in case you're still haivng problems.

Try this for a fix for the clock dropping. No need to use unofficial overclocking method either so clocks will drop to 2d levels as normal.

1. Download RadeoPro - http://www.radeonpro.info/2013/11/new-build-with-support-for-amd-radeon-r-series/

2. Create a profile using the game exe.

3. Click the profile tab, then the overdrive tab. Click the padlock to unlock overdrive, click enable graphics overdrive, the click 'always use highest performance clocks while gaming'. Don't forget to set +50% power tune in RP. Apply clocks and voltage settings through afterburner first. Now right click the game profile shortcut on the left and select apply then launch the game.

Cheers matt. I'll give that a go tonight. I suspect Im just being a knob and have had the card on a separate profile. I was getting little black squares popping up earlier so I suspect I might have vram overheating issues anyway, so lots of testing to do tonight.

Have done that, but gpu1 now sticks at 1150. Worked a treat for gpu2 but I'm still getting horrible artifacts.

Artifacts usually indicate an unstable core. The gpu doctor recommends 15-30 minutes of OCCT at these settings to sniff out an unstable core.

Copy my settings. This will sniff out a faulty or unstable gpu. If you get any errors at stock clock/voltage settings, then you know its faulty.

It seems like it's stuck at 1.188V (default boost is 1.256V so this might be a tad low). AB doesn't seem to want to change it.

Any idea how to fix powerplay on GPU1 after using the radeonpro fix you mentioned?

Fire me over both your gpu bios (use gpu-z) and i will inspect them and see what's what. It may be one card is volt locked, or it may be one card needs a different tool other than afterburner to unlock the voltage. If you want me to set some specific stock clocks on both cards to save you overclocking, i can do that. Let me know the clocks and voltage settings you want. Or i can guess the voltage if you don't mind a bit of possible overshoot.

Oddly enough, both BIOS are the same and have the volts set to stock. But MSI AB is displaying a different voltage. (280x toxics which I believe are voltage locked)

I seem unable to fix powerplay after applying the profile, so any help undoing that so it just applies in game using the exe trigger would be much appreciated. (E: figured it out)

Oh I just mean the power play thing. Just reset overdrive in CCC. A bit of research shows that 1.188V is the stock volts for 1100/1600, and 1.256v is for the 1150 boost. It isn't going to 1.256v in game, so maybe 1150 is unstable at 1.188v. I'm gonna drop to 1100/1600 which should then put me at stock volts and clocks to see if that fixes it.

Texture flickering only occurs after maybe 30 mins of gameplay so I'm wondering if it could be a heat issue. Supposedly toxics can have issues with VRAM temps.

Possibly. Or your cards might be throttling. Fire over those bios and I'll have a butchers if you like.

This is what I'm getting in Payday2, although in Unigine Valley I get chequered black squares that tend to occupy the same spot as the scene changes.
