Was going to pick up the Sony Gold's in white along with the Destiny White Bundle but have read mixed reviews about them and not to sure how good they would be for using on PC and X1

Anything else out there say for sub £200 that would do better? Use along with above would be some music and movies along with mainly gaming.

  • Would prefer wireless as I game on TV and PC is some distance away, although if its much better going wired willing to consider.
  • Built in chat

Will wireless effect performance a lot?

Connectivity is also a issue especially across 3 platforms so preferably something that is easy to switch over. Seen the other thread "massdrops" which I have signed up for but not really sure whats what. Really have no clue regarding audio stuff but would like a decent set.

Never knew Kingston did headsets, are they supposed to be good?

Are them AKG Q701 (the ones everybody is raving on about) just for music or can they be used for gaming too?

Q701 is the best gaming headphones you can buy under £250, they are end game in terms of gaming. world class, if you get them you won't look at upgrading them for gaming purposes anyway.

for music i prefer HD600, Fidelio X1 and HifiMan HE400

the HyperX Cloud is far from being the best gaming headset in terms of positional audio for competitive games in 3D environments such as shooters – positional audio is inversely proportionate to audio immersion

Arent they like a £100 on that site when they come up so would be within budget? Or do I need an expensive amp to go with it?

Don't listen to much music just the odd tune here and there if im working at home. Mainly gaming and couldn't really justify buying multiple sets for different things. A good all rounder will do.

Q701, do they do 5.1/7.1 for positioning?

Not sure if it was you are someone else I read somewhere saying that the Soundmagic headset/headphones were the best? (edit yes it was you, the SoundMAGIC HP200)

Do they have inbuilt mics?

Sorry for all the questions but reading that thread seems like a waste getting Kingstons for £60 when something like these would blow them out of the water for not much more?

For gaming Q701 is what you want. They are £200 here though in the UK. Sold out on that site so forget getting them for £90.

For your budget a mixamp costs £120 brand new, leaving you with £80.

For that budget the best all rounder is hyperx. Spend a bit more and you can get HD558 (£120) and mod them to 598's (for free). Spend a bit more (£200) and you can get Q701's.

Someone is selling Q701's in the mm for cheap. Look at them tbh, second hand though.

Ahh ok, no chance waiting it out on the Q701, no chance of showing up again?

They did show up again yesterday but that is the last anyone will see at that price possibly forever. Like I said forget about getting them for £90. No chance now.

Quality costs money, it's a slippery slope in the audio world.

If your interested I will be selling my Fidelio X1's in a month or so on members market. They are really good all rounder headphones with the best build quality I've seen. Should last forever.
