What Software to Design a Car Interior

Yes, I mean mainly the look of it, i.e. from an aesthetics point of view mainly. I'm just interested to know which software package might be used for this purpose.

You will most likely have to model out the entire car yourself. You can get tonnes of 3D packages that you can do this with, once done then you can render out the overall look. For instance:
  • Model out the car exterior and interior
  • Apply materials (the look) to the various parts of the car
  • Render the car and see what it will look like as if it was a real car
With materials you can literally do a 1-click colour change to see what it will look like before rendering and makes things super easy.

Another thing you can do is to take a photo of the car's interior, then in Photoshop or any other image programme you can change the colour via layers.

What exactly do you mean by "design"? Is it a completely different interior or is it aesthetics/cosmetics only?

By design, I mean draw on the computer, i.e. approaching it from a style and look perspective. I guess I could just draw it, but I'm interested to know if there is a software package that might enhance the process.

What are the names of the packages. I know there's Photoshop, what else is there? If you were doing it from a technical perspective, what would you use then?

From technical perspective- Autodesk AutoCad and others...
From technical/artsy perspective- Autodesk 3DS Max, Cinema 4D and others...

But for all of those you will need lots of training before you get there...unless you use a dumbed down version of these.

If you don't want that much detail I guess you can just watch 10-15 YouTube videos and get the gist.

Either way it is a challenging endeavour so good luck :)
