Hey, hey,

I have been studying with the OU and got my final module graded - adding all my module scores it appears I have passed (yey!)

However, I have had nothing from the Uni stating I have earned my degree (I don't know what I was expecting!). I know we get emails detailing graduations etc later, but from when can I start calling myself Ivrytwr3 BSc(Hons)?

You'd think a uni student would know this eh?!

I googled "Open Uni assessment" and found the Assessment Handbook, which says:

... If your module contributes to a qualification, you will receive an
offer of qualification along with any classification when you have completed the required
study. This will normally happen within a week of the issue of your final module result.

Does that help?

And no, I'm not remotely surprised that a student doesn't know the administrative processes around their course... pretty standard tbh!

Congratulations on passing though :)

When you graduate (which is either at the event or shortly afterwards when you get your paperwork.

The modules have got to be cross marked (random sample plus highest and lowest) and double checked for plagiarism yet. I think at the OU that process completes around beginning of Feb for courses finishing in Q4.

The one i have just done was £2500 per semester. Fortunately my employer pays about 85% of that.

For that cash i was taught via Blackboard and had to attend two 1 x week residentials (i had to find and pay for food and accommodation).

But for me as a fulltime worker, distance learning was my best option.

PS 'Bone' = lame.

How much do they charge for open university courses, does it vary, or do they get hit with full student fees?

I'm doing it full time over 3 years and it comes to about 5k a year. Still a cheaper option that brick and mortar by far but I wouldn't recommend it if you have the option to go to a brick and mortar uni just because of the amount of reading and lack of guidance.
