Samsung is 32 inches and the Asus is good in hzt

the asus monitor has gsync, but can you use a AMD card on the asus and benefit from the 120/144 hzt effect?

I will use the monitor primarily for gaming, not jumping on the 4k bandwagon yet as its to immature.

Its a bonus if I have a nvdia card for the asus but i currently have a 7970. trying to decide on a r9290 or a 970.

So if u had a 7970 which monitor will u get? both models have a clearance version so big savings there !

For asus owners.

Does anyone own the Asus PG278Q? how is it and what did u use b4? was there a difference when u 1st played on the asus?

You can still use an AMD card with the ROG and get the benefits of 120+Hz (IIRC there are some reports of problems with some AMD cards and 144Hz on this and 1-2 other monitors).

While you need an nVidia card to get the most out of the ROG you will still get the benefits of being the most responsive 2560x1400 120+Hz panel for gaming which for me atleast is by far the biggest factor.

I've used 120Hz panels exclusively for gaming over the last few years and it was still a pretty big upgrade from what I had before though not the same as coming from a 60Hz panel would be.

oh, seen, so if I get a 120Hz/144Hz monitor, I will notice a difference?, as im using a 60Hz 2560x1440 monitor now, is it like very noticeable?

I went from an IPS 2560x1440 60hz, to a Samsung 4K and got a Rog Swift more out of interest than thinking i would keep it, however i was so blown away by the clarity that i sold my other monitors and kept the Rog

I see from the GPU section you are also deciding between a 970 or 290, DEFINITELY get the 970 to go with the rog

If you're considering a Swift with an AMD card why not wait and get this? Basically the same thing but £200 cheaper and with Freesync.

that's a nice monitor, just not asked to wait 2 months, there is a Acer Predator XB270HU 27" 2560x1440 for £698, but there's also a Acer Predator 4k2k XB280HK 28" 3840x2160 for £529

question is why is the 2560x1440 more expensive than the 4k 3840x2160 ?

Thats weird coz I thought 4k is the next best thing in monitors? a lot of 4k monitors are much cheaper than the 1440p monitors, is it because people are not ready for 4k or that 4k is a gimmick?

I certainly would not take the 32 inch Samsung clearance monitor. Given that the Samsung is known to have panel issues (flickering occurring when gaming) and given the fact that the OCUK RMA are unable to recognise this, you risk getting a monitor that will not be fit for purpose and will be a pain to get refunded.

Especially considering that only a few weeks ago I returned my monitor for a full refund for that exact issue, I would say a heavily discounted monitor would very likely be flawed - and quite likely the very one I returned.

yep thats what I am looking for to replace my Benq 120 monitor.

looking at specs for that monitor it has TN panel, myself rather have a better panel tbh, will wait and see what's out around that time, new monitor and hopefully GTA 5 release will be nice.

Yeah i wont be pre-ordering because i want to wait and see what the reviews are like. Having owned an IPS screen for 6 years i'm a little worried about moving to a TN panel, especially since im not a hardcore gamer. I'm just really keen to experience 144hz and Freesync.
