Hey dudes.

I'm the only fella left in the family so I've got nobody to ask these questions so wondered if anybody could weigh in on a quote I got.

I want to rebuild my mum's garage. It's currently a noRmal car sized garage attached to the house, with a small wooden extension probably built by a previous owner. Since my dad died it's fallen into disrepair and I've decide to just get the whole thimg replaced.

It's a bit of a job. The extension needs to come down, with a new, longer extension making it essentially double car length. That will need a concrete base and a felt roof. This means they'll be dismantling the current dilapidated greenhouse too as it's in the way. the new extension going to be those concrete panels for walls, with a safe door also. That will need roofing with the current roof replaced or repaired. That roof does contain the smooth pane asbestos so I know that's gonna cost a bit. to remove and dispose. I also want to replace the main garage door on the existing structure for a modern secure one.

So the quote came in at 7k which doesn't seem totally unreasonable for the amount of work, but I'd be stupid to just OK it without asking someone. Does anyone here think that's unreasonable?

Thanks for any thoughts. I can do most jobs myself but with big stuff like this I'm out of my depth.

Usual rule applies - get 3 quotes and pick the middle.

I cant help with the quote sorry but I agree that it seems to be in a sensible ball park.

Yeah I've got 3 more people coming to quote on it, but because she's there on her own I'm worried they might be a touch high. I know it's impossible to say for sure but yeah just kinda ballparking is all :)
cheers

As with any pricing time and location play massive factors in the cost, where in the UK is it and can you give a dimension, sq m?

It's in Essex so South East. Sq Ft.. it's regular car sized garage. I saw the dimensions for the extension is 4.3m x 2.3m.
