I'm going to be in Vegas earlier than I expected. I'm there for an event and have a hotel as a part of that, from 3rd-7th, but I arrive on the 2nd which is the night of the Mayweather fight, which is nice.
The downside of that is that I forgot about a hotel and everything is booked...

I only need a hotel for the night. Or, I need somewhere for my bags to go while I stay up all night, which is fine, but no idea where my bags will go.

So, 1 night sites for hotels? or up all night?

Ideas?

Up all night, dump your bags in the hotel you've got booked. I'm sure you can talk them into keeping them in their luggage room for the night.

some mad prices that night, my choice would be the Westin at £98, good location and quite a nice hotel

up all night won't be as easy as you think assuming you flying in from Europe, add the long flight, time difference and the fact it could be 2pm before you get your room

Ohhh i've done the bag drop at hotel / stay up all night before, and it was hideous. Didn't get our room till 3pm the next day, and were waking zombies. This was only Paris too so we weren't even jet lagged. The things we saw in the night...

Ah the westin has space? Nice, I'm starwood gold, so might even get an upgrade :p

I wanted Bellagio or Encore, but seem to have no chance! Bel is close to the MGM where the fight is and the Encore is the other end, but it's the best hotel, so you know.

@Rots, what site did you get that?

Thanks

There was a thread on 2+2 about a guy who went without a hotel room for a couple of days and used the Mandalay Bay Spa... take advantage if the free snacks, fruit juice etc.. go find a lounger/daybed and sleep there for 6 hours or so.

Bags can be left at the front desk of the hotel you have booked for the next day.

Wife wouldn't be too chuffed :p

@dowie, I had been tempted to slap my suit on when I arrive. Wad of cash and see if I can find the money crowd in the MGM then just hit some decent spas to chillout after. It's almost tempting for the sheer challenge of it.

All nighter!
Soon as you arrive, dump your bags off in the hotel you'll eventually be staying at.
Book yourself in for a spa package (just a massage maybe), but you'll use the hot tubs, sauna, steam etc for hours, then get a quick nap in (anywhere, plenty of opportunities), then out on the town starting 10ish? You'll be amazed at how quickly time passes.
Then the breakfasts buffets start, then you'll have access to the hotel pool, showers, lounges etc.
Might such the next morning, however it'll be a story to tell after you've slept it off :D

The Sat night before we left, wife and I hit the bed about 6-7am maybe (after starting the night out at 5pm) and flight was at 11:45am. We were complete zombies that day, but now we have a great night and story to tell.

If you're not that fussed about all the glamour of a big name Strip hotel, book a Hampton Inn or similar - the rooms are just as good, very economical and some of them are just off Strip. I've used the Hampton Inn Tropicana on a number of occasions and it's been excellent every time.
