Are there any festival lovers on here? Mainly dance music?

It's my 30th birthday this year, so thought me and 'the lads' should get together for an awesome weekend/week away at a music festival or visit one of those 'super clubs'.

Anyway, first thought that popped into my head, was Tomorrowland in Belguim, but it's sold out! http://www.tomorrowland.com/home

I'm now looking for suggestions of other places.

Any ideas/suggestions?

OTomorrowland would have been sold out within milliseconds, I know groups of people that have been trying to get tickets for a good few years

Dance festivals around the UK are crap now, no where what they used to be like, early days of God kitchen global gathering from 2001, homelands, gatecrasher summer sound systembut they are either no more or crap like global. Only good running one is creamfields but I wish they didn't hold it in Liverpool (no offence)

Xtatic summer festival although its good and has some hard dance, check out what's around Europe, or Amsterdam in the summer, they may have something decent

The UK festival line ups have been on decline for a while. They used to be amazing

Get a cheap flight and accommodation to Ibiza? And do some nites at pacha, space, cream, privilege

Or Amsterdam for clubs.

I haven't seen anything in the UK that looks good enough to warrant the money. I did half think about Creamfields, but it's reputation seems to have dropped in last few years.

Something in Europe would be nice to be honest, somewhere with cheap flights, accommodation, cheap drink, etc. Or am I dreaming here....

Club entry and drinks might be a bit more in Ibiza, but flights and accommodation don't have to be , seen some good deals.

Luckily I was getting half price on tickets as my mate worked there.

Ie privilege (10,000 capacity club) to see tiesto was 40 Euros a ticket but I got in for 20.

But I would have happily paid 40, epic night

There not all that price though. Depends where you go, who's playing, some are cheap. Some are free (we seen Steve angello one part of the Swedish house Mafia, DJ at Ibiza rocks for free)

Amsterdam has some good nights with techno, trance etc

Just have to do your research find the clubs and what's on and plan your weekend or week around what's on

not specifically dance music but it is a big festival with more than enough dance acts on at various stages/tents etc.. all day and night.

Saw Prodigy on the main stage last summer, Empire of the Sun in the dance tent the year before.... unfortunately got dragged off half way through that to go and see David Guetta by the hungarian girls I was with.

Anyway it is an awesome festival, international crowd (mostly Dutch, French and Hungarian)... none of the chavvy scumbags you might encounter at the larger UK festivals. Hungarian girls are very hot too... plus it is on an Island in the middle of a city - you can stay in a hotel/apartment in Budapest and just get taxis(or boats even) to and from the festival and go clubbing at 4 or 5am in Budapest etc.. (one ruin bar/club we stumbled upon was open 24 hours a day with multiple rooms etc..)

anyway:

Some of the event tickets seem silly money, but like you say, if it's a good line up, good atmosphere, you don't mind too much. A friend of mine suggested this place

I wouldn't fancy that, bit too much of a beer boy commercial type of place for me :p is people not really there for the music, but that's just me.

Dance valley festival in Amsterdam is supposed to be awesome (well it used to be, looks like the lineup on this has taken a hit too)

You reckon, Nic Fanciulli is worth the money alone:)

Eastern Europe often offers good value: Sziget is around £30 for a day ticket... I'd have paid more than that just to see the Prodigy let alone get to see them plus a whole bunch of other acts at various stages across the Island on the Saturday last summer.

Exit is worth considering too (Serbia) also a friend seemed to really enjoy Outlook Festival a couple of years ago in Croatia.

Dance music? can you be a bit more specific in terms of styles/genres of dance music you like. Would help with offering suggestions.

But if you are looking for something on the cheaper side I would go with perhaps the eastern Europe idea others have mentioned.

So many good nights at Gods Kitchen events!

Yeah the club night is great, I was on about the festival that used to be good

But what does op want?

Trance, techno? Hard trance/hardhouse/hard dance? / house? Psy trance?

Music genre would be d&b, dubstep, trance, house. Anything with bass basically! But will probably prefer a decent trance event, with some heavier stuff thrown in.

XSF all the way !!!!

Cant wait for this years one !!!!

And thats inside one of tents :D
