Hi Guys

My Mum has been clearing out old junk and she asked me to sell her little autograph book. Most of them are Scottish singers/bands but a few seem reasonable. I notice ebay has a few rules around it with regards to authenticity so I thought I'd ask some of you guys for advice.

Its a little book with maybe 20 or so random's including:

Patrick Troughton (Doctor Who I think?) - he was in Dr Finlays Casebook in 1963 when my Mum got this (its also on its own out of the book on an old original envelope :) )
Colin Welland - Z Cars
Iain Cuthbertson - Scottish Actor
Peter Sarstedt - Singer?

She can tell me a little history about each of them which might help? Most are random as you can see though.. seems a little bit of a shame.

Any advice on the best way to move it on? She has no interest in it these days at all.

I would list all of the autographs in her book when creating the eBay listing. A few years ago, I sold a postcard with an autograph of Steve Backley (former javelin world record holder), which went for about £10.20 final bid. As long as you have positive feedback from prior auctions, I don't think it should be a problem.

That reminds me, I have a Peter Andre autograph too which I'll need to fish out at some point. My uncle does event management (One Big Sunday etc), so that was how I got hold of it.

Your uncle ay ;)

I wouldn't mind meeting him, well when I say that, I meant i wouldn't mind meeting him if he's hot lady emily was there. I'd try and introduce myself to her

Never sold any autographs personally, good luck

Kermit you probably are best shifting them soon because the chances are a few of those 70's/80's BBC stars will soon be locked up at Her Majesty's pleasure.

I have a Barry White signed LP and a Dave Prowse signed Star Wars Trilogy DVD boxset. Poor Dave had to write 'Darth Vader' underneath in case people don't know who he is :p

Wouldn't sell either :D

Unless an actual expert has certified an autograph as genuine - then I doubt very much that 99% of the ones being sold on EBay are "certified".
A certificate of authenticity isn't worth the paper it's drawn on -with no governing body in place, I could scribble on a photo and then create my own certificate saying "Yup - that's genuine".
So all you can really do is sell them as "believed to be genuine" which really, unless you were there and physically watched it being signed, is the best you can do.
