GTA V - 970 performance @ 1080p 60hz

Running this game at max settings ultimately depends on your CPU not GPU , I have 2 980s and for all purposes it can't max this game at 2560 x 1080p , my 5820k @ 4.2 is the deciding factor in framerate . With everything upto ultra including the advanced settings sliders maxed and on my framerate especially in grassy areas or Northern sandy areas can hit 40 odd fps , turning grass down a notch and pushing the sliders in advanced settings to below half way maintains me a solid 60fps with v sync on

If you've gone for the 980 already... meh. But from Youtube benchmarks, GTAV at 1080p doesn't exceed the 3.5GB on any card. As I previously stated, the 970 even does fine at 1440p, still beating the 290x which has a bit more VRAM. The VRAM on 970 should be more than enough. But it's your choice. Especially with new cards coming out next month (could make the 980 cheaper in price if all goes well), all sorts of options. But some folks can't wait :P

I already had 2 980s mate, so I've split them up. Rather than spend the cash on a 970, I'll sell the other 980 and add the money I haven't spent now on an upgrade for the gaming rig. Of course, that's when a decent upgrade becomes available... Titan X, nah!

According to the leaks, the 390X should beat a TX. Which I don't believe for a second. But I am a cynical guy, best to wait for reliable and verified benchmarks. If it's true then 390X could be the decent upgrade ^.^ Though thinking about it, wouldn't going from 2 980s to a single card be a downgrade? Muh, I'm just thinking too much XD
