Gillete fusion blades - how long?

I usually get a good month or so out of the Fusion blades (shaving every other day). I find a good quality shaving gel really helps keep the rashes away.

I'm still using the final cartridge that came with the razor a few years back! Maybe they put uber-cartridges in the introductory packs to get you to change to Fusion?

Some people in this thread have especially delicate skin.

Real men use the rusty edge of a beer can they ripped apart with their teeth the night before.

I used to use Mach3 razors but eventually just got fed up with the spiraling costs and gimmicky lets-see-how-many-blades-we-can-squeeze-onto-a-cartridge nonsense - and don't get me started on the whole vibrating handle rubbish.

Anyway, after much procrastination I bought myself a good quality Edwin Jagger safety razor and have never looked back. For less than the price of 8 Mach3 blades I can get 100 good quality safety razor blades on Ebay, and the quality of shave that it gives me is better than a disposable. It's a total no-brainer.

Merkur super platinum double edge safety razor blades are where it's at.

Exactly. I used to be a muti blade buyer but since moving over to DE i've saved loads and get a much better shave.

I change my blade every 3-4 shaves and use Feather Hi Stainless blades which work out at 37p each. The head can be brought for £24, mine was brought in 2011 and won't need replacing for the foreseeable future.

me too, my merkur DE head and 100 derby blades was cheaper than 1 modern multi razor thing with a couple of spare blades and i'm still using blades out of my 100 pack 5-6 years later and it's a good close shave :D

100 blades gets it down to 25p per blade too.

Glad to be out of the multi blade rat race, my skin has improved, my shave has improved and no longer a victim of the price of those flipping cartridges!

I always get Gillette Blue II plus. I restrict shaving twice a week only. So my face feels as "smooth as a baby's bottom". Quote from the Clint Eastwood film The Beguiled.

Here is the scene for those interested: Hallin is a black slave and Mcburney is a confederate soldier (Clint Eastwood):

Hallin: Ms. Martha said I should shave you, but I ain't so sure. I don't think the Lord wanted a man's face all smooth like a baby's bottom. That's why he gave them whiskers. Might be a sin to shave that growth off.

Mcburney: Then don't do it. Sinning oughta be saved for much more important things.

I use the Gillette blue disposables. I learned to shave when the double bladed Gillette was the latest and best razor. It did me then and does me now. I find there's literally no difference between them and whatever the latest gimmicky razor is at the time. And I don't mind if the GF uses one!

I'm also suspicious that when ever I buy a new gillette razor, the cartridge pre-fitted to the handle always seems to last longer than any replacement cartridges!

These multi-blade razors are all a big con. You don't need 5 blades. You don't even need 3. You need 1 blade and a good safety razor, plus a little technique.

Buy a decent safety razor, some blades, a badger hair brush, and a pot of good quality soap, and enjoy the best shave you've ever had for a tiny fraction of the cost.

Been using Stirling shave club for a few months now and the blades are much better than the mach 3 Gillette ones I was on before. Cheaper too. Shave 3 times a week and use one cartridge a week.
