Vacuum cleaner recommendations

Another vote for G-tech Airram. I ran round the house with dyson as a test after using the airram and it didn't pick anything up that the airram missed.

Commerical vacuums like James or NVP 180 are much better.

I'm named after a hoover? :(

My family is still using the Henry we got 14 years ago!

Since moving out, I've used a variety of cheapos and finally suck it up and went back with a Henry, granted it was post 1600watt era of Vacuum, so it's energy saving ones, it's still does the job!

Dragging the brush over the carpet and pulling out the hairs to be sucked back in beats having to use a pair of scissors to cut through the rotating brushes - I have 1 women in the house and I already get hairballs the size of several hamsters every fortnight. Last thing I want is to have them stuck in a rotating brush!

Bought a Miele c1 junior recently, for £100 it seems like very good value. Has some serious suction!

Sorry, but Dysons and Mieles don't know how to have a good time.

EDIT: In all seriousness, in both the places I work with have Henrys and I have a Miele at home. They're both great machines, the Miele is the better machine but it's also more expensive. The Henry however is a very robust and competent machine.

I have a thing for hoovers, No not like Doofy but asmr hoover and my old 1200w Henry would suck brass of a doorknob no joke. It got so much use it broke in 1.5mnths. So i got the 620w Henry of Amazon and with the brush i notice no difference tbh.

For £99 i duno if i would want anything else than the 620w Henry now, Considering i have to pay for an hour+ of daily usage and feet warming time. :D

had an upright dyson many years ago and it was fantastic. problem was (after many years of use, including being connected to power tools...) it got really noisy with I think bearing whine in the motor.

So I bought a new all singing dyson upright about 5 years ago and we absolutely hate it.
It is fantastic as a push pull vac but trying to use the hose and extension is like trying to wrestle an octopus. It's really really terrible, a joke in fact. We keep meaning to flog it and get something else.

As a result I would recommend that you go and play with one in a store before buying "blind" online to get a feel for what they are really like to use when in your hands.

Henry. Just can't beat them for the combination of reliability and power

The last henry I bought was a bit down on power. Also, they're not great for carpets.

I have a henry for the really messy jobs, outside etc, and a dyson upright for inside.

People using hoovers for carpets are doing it wrong, Henry and small brush dominates every surface and nooks and crannys inc my laptops and screens. Yet it does not touch the £300 cream carpet in the living room.

For that i use a jumbo sticky roller that lifts out everything. The carpet is still pristine 3 years on and never been touched by anything but the jumbo sticky roller. You get smaller ones for pet hair but shop around or online and you get massive ones for floors.
