I think i have myself convinced for the AKG K271 MKIIs

I game, but i also enjoy music of a broad variaty. Right now i am listening to Miles davis, but Rammstein is something i like too.

I think i will start with just the headphones, but from reading up a little on the interwebs, it seems a DAC other than the onboard one would be preferable.
I am totally new to actual quality sound so when i look up DACs, it is a jungle out there. I have no idea what to go for. I'd prefere something not costing more than the headphones.

What i would ask you knowledgable people about, is what do i need to get the best out of these headphones. OR is it a completely wrong choice? I'd love a longer cable too, now that wireless is very frowned upon :D Should i get something special?

So to rereiterate.

AKG K271 MKIIs: Ok choice?
DAC: what should i get?
Cable: For a length about 6m - 10m what could i get, or shouldn't I.

They're good headphones from what I've seen of comments and reviews. I think Ryan described them as balanced with good mid range.

If they are for just PC use, a FiiO E10K would be a good option. Good DAC and a decent amp that will power the headphones with ease.

If you need longer than 3M cable, then you could just add a 3.5mm extension to the existing cable. A 6M to 10M replacement cable might cost as much as £20+.

Extension would work for me too, i just thought with hifi, length and quality of extension or new cables had to be bought in good quality as to not change the sound. And i wondered if there were any brand of cables to look for.

Thank you, for the info about the DAC/amp. The FiiO E10K seems readily available. I will try out that combination :)
