Recently purchased Benq xl2411z from OCuk and am getting some strange ghosting/ artifacts in CS:GO with MBR on. I believe they are Inverse ghosting to be more precise. Not noticeable in other games but I do get ghosting on my mouse cursor in windows!

Mostly happens on player models, boxes and objects and can be very noticeable at times. Also seems to be some microstutter.

Running 144hz with 144 fps, same thing occurs at 120HZ with 120fps.

Is it worth trying LightBoost or is this just a "feature" of this monitor?

Previously owned xl2720z which didnt have these issues as there was no difference between MBR On or Off.

Why did you get rid of the XL2720Z?
The XL2720Z has some tweaks (and firmware bugs) which allow you to remove all ghosting with MBR off and most ghosting with MBR on. Unfortunately hardly anyone knew about them (there was one youtube video where someone found out about it, but that's because these tweaks didn't work on V2 firmware at all; required V3 or newer, which he had. He probably found about it by accident, as I did).

The same tweaks that remove all ghosting with MBR off and reduce AMA ghosting by 50% with MBR on (removes all inverse ghosting) still work somewhat on the XL2411Z and XL2420Z but ghosting is only reduced by 5-10%. At least it's still an improvement.

Try the same tweaks I listed and also set contrast to 40 on the XL2411Z. Contrast 50 just makes things worse. You will still have inverse ghosting after setting C=40 and doing my toggles I posted (which again affect the XL2720Z the most), but at least your CS:GO should look better.

Remember any change to OSD (monitor) brightness, ANY strobe setting adjustments, refresh rate or resolution changes will instantly revert the AMA back to defaults. You can change contrast, gamma etc, without it reverting.

If you are doing the AMA+MBR OFF toggle bug (which is a combination of two tweaks in one), then you are free to change monitor brightness without it reverting (and strobe settings won't revert as MBR is off anyway) but a resolution/refresh rate change will revert back to defaults.

Thanks for the reply

Why did you get rid of the XL2720Z?

I've been using an IPS panel for years and the XL2720Z looked terrible for normal desktop use, I think the 27" panel exaggerates all that is bad with TN panels. Very washed out colours, gamma shift, bad text ect. I think I spent more time in the OSD than actually using it. Most games looked pretty good but the darker ones looked awful. I was impressed with the build quality though so went for the smaller version.

Made a few adjustments from the Blurbuster's website custom resolution and used the strobe utility to adjust the crosstalk which was very poor on the lower 1/3 of the screen. Set CS:GO to Windowed Fullscreen which helped with the microstutter which was probably making the Inverse ghosting more obvious.

Be nice if these things didnt need all this effort just to get them to work half decent.

I'm not 100% convinced that the inverse ghosting is supposed to be this noticeable, tested on some other games and its also present there but not as noticeable. Seems to be more noticeable on lighter backgrounds. Getting halos ghost images on player models and corners.

Is there anyway to capture this without a high speed video camera?
