Hi guys

Seems that Ford are releasing a new Capri.

Being mid 30's I loved these cars as a kid. However I'm not sure what to make of this new version.

There is no official information about the engine that could power new 2016 Ford Capri but we are confident that some of the EcoBoost unit will be introduced with the new version. The Foundation can 1.0 liter EcoBoost with about 120 hp, this will be sufficient for the basic version because it would be vehicles smaller and lighter. Those who wanted more of course will choose to more powerful 1.5 liter EcoBoost with about 181 hp while those who want to really sporty coupe will go to 2.0 liter i-4 EcoBoost with 240 hp. At present it is not clear if the EcoBoost unit 2.3 litre with more than 300 hp will be introduced here, if Ford decided to offer than we get a pet that is really small.

Price is another very complicated segment where Ford does not have many rooms simply because the basic Mustang price is set to $ 23895 and 2016 Ford Capri should be slightly below this price range. So exciting, we think that Ford should be the price at about $ 18000 but this largely depends on the underlying engine that will be selected in the list.

It is old news and not sure if it is true or not.

As Ford has Fiesta, Focus and Mustang, I am unsure where this fits in to be honest.

I am guessing maybe it will just be a Focus with a different body shell. I suppose it is to compete with cars such as VW Scirroco etc.

Guess we shall see, it could just be rumour and never materialise.

not a fan of that one bit

looks like a Mondeo with some sort of futuristic pruis arse end on it.

Shouldn't be called a capri if its going to look like that

From someone who had every mark of Capri at one time or another, I don't like the look of that new model at all.

I was actually following an old A reg 2.0L S Capri into town the other day, the good old girl puffed blue oil smoke every time he accelerated from a corner....ahh the memories :D

I think given the amount of "different" cars BMW bring out that probably doesn't matter anymore.
Was getting used to the even no coupe odd number 4 door, then they do Gran Coupe versions with 4 doors etc.
Now I hear on the radio of a 2 series 7 seater.

I can imagine the Capri name would sell this alone, regardless of its placement.

....ahh the memories :D

My first car was a knackered Mk1 which burned almost as much oil as petrol. When going up steep hill the cabin would fill with smoke, as it came out of the dipstick tube, and got sucked in the ventilation system... no doubt driving that car has shortened my life by a few years  My second was a Mk2 which was better, but still a heavy smoker... I was a Capri nut as a kid and therefore loved both of them though. I still go gooey when I see a nice one.

As for that thing above... although it looks nice from some angles, it is NOT a Capri

Just release the original with modern tech and hybrid powertrain

I'd put my wife on the street for that !

If it were RWD im sure there'd be a place for it, for all the people who loved the idea of the GT86 but moaned about the lack of torque surely this would be ideal.

This looks too bland a design to be worthy. The Capri had that stupidly long bonnet to make it stand out as a bonkers choice, this is .... meh ! It needs some extreme barry going on to work as a Capri.

As already said, why would anyone buy this when the mustang is similar money and actually has some presence. They tried this before with the Cougar 20 years ago and that was a flop.

Yawn.

It could fit below the Mustang, but then what would be the point of offering the 2.3 Ecoboost Mustang in our market? It's also bulbous and ugly.

Looks like a focus came off worse in a collision with a jaguar - even if its not as boxy (relatively speaking) as the original it needs those distinctive angles.
