anyone got a decent speech for a 60th by any chance?

trying to pluck up the courage to do a speech for my mother's 60th next year
thought might as well get the ball moving

if anyone can provide some type of advice or a speech example I would be grateful

thanks

so we got like 80-90 guests
hired out a venue - it is a special birthday 60 etc

thought it be nice to say a few words, share some stories, humor and thank the guests for attending.

it's a birthday party, not a wake! save the speeches for when your mum is not around. have everyone raise a glass and wish her a happy 60th and let it be at that.

this.

thank her for being a great mother and say you look forward to the next 60.

Why not, I think it's a nice gesture that too often gets lost because people would rather not. Sure it takes you out of your comfort zone, but that's part of the reason why it's special because it's something you wouldn't normally do.

I'd start by thanking people for coming, especially as there's likely to be people who have travelled a long way to attend. Then maybe go on to share some funny memories, or special moment in your life that you've shared with your Mum. You obviously love and care for her very much, so it'd be a great time to mention something along those lines. Then a toast to the birthday girl, wish everyone a great evening and safe onward journey then get tipsy and dance with your Mum. Sorted.

^ There's your speech.

"thought it be nice to say a few words - special occasion blah blah blah'
"share some stories/humour - x 3"
"thank the guests for attending".

That was difficult.

lol so no speech examples then?

"Happy birthday, enjoy every day as you now might not make it to the next one"

"You're a wonderful mum"

"Raise your glasses and voices to name"

Sing HB...

You don't need a long speech. A few words from the heart will do.
