GTX 1080 Standard vs Founder edition

From what I can tell the Founders Edition is nothing more than the stock 1080 with the new stock cooler that has a vapor chamber like the 980ti and 780ti ones had, the mid range cards never had a vapor chamber cooler before.

The verge states this

"The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 will be available from May 27th at a retail price of $599. A so-called founders edition, featuring speed-binned chips (i.e. the ones that outperform the base spec the most and offer the most overclocking headroom), will be sold by Nvidia for $699. The GTX 1070 follows two weeks later, on June 10th, at a price of $379 from Nvidia's partners or $449 for the founders edition."

So they used the Founders Edition for the presentation yesterday and I'm guessing a cherry picked one too, so the real price is $699 so a mid range that cost more than last generations top range chip .. 980Ti was $650 on release.

No chance on earth is a mid range chip worth that and as was said by many of us before this release the price will be high as it is a new manufacturing process. That's why Nvidia hyped the hell out of it to hide that fact. Also half the crowed in that presentation was hired .... Screamed Apple hype tactics to sell you last years tech at this years prices .... Real benchmarks will show this.

meh £575 give or take for 1080 I really want these reference boards though they look boss -_- though Zotac has just released it's 1080 which boasts the same reference cooler, I thought only Nvidia were selling these? I'm still not 100% on this foundation marketing BS guess I'll just wait till 27th may ^_^

Ahh yes so it does, thanks man.

It's a real shame though that they can't be turned off, or even better make them RGB so I can choose my own colour.

The LED can be turned off in GeForce experience. But there is still that green tinge as the rubber itself is green
