The clan shows as 1000 trophies but 'closed', which the wiki page tells me prevents me from joining for any reason. Or perhaps it's down to my lack of competence somewhere along the line

Why is it always put on closed anyway? Could you not leave it on invite only?

because random people keep requesting to join otherwise and we have to keep rejecting them, its a little bit irritating, so it remains closed for clan members only
I cannot get into this game at all maybe I'm doing it wrong or need friends to be in clan with.... #foreveralone

go for it, there's been loads of changes over the past 6 months
So I'm in and appreciating the positive attitude towards troop donations. I started out donating my level 3 troops but realise it's not helping anyone out. Rest assured I'll start pulling my weight once I can train higher level troops.
On a farming attack earlier today all my own troops were defeated with only a modest amount of resources stolen. I decided to use the clan castle troops on the weakened base and they stole something like another 150k combined resources, so these things really do help especially now that I don't get any clan war spoils.

Short and sweet, I'm out. CoC & CR frustrate me so much I really feel the need to throw my phone off someone's head (as Alan sugar would say, you're fired!)
New update coming soon, and probably one of the best ones to date. I've been saying for a long time this option should have been in there.
You'll now be able to attack clan mates villages! You won't steal any of their loot or use up any of your troops, but it will be great for practising attacks, testing base strengths and weaknesses etc etc.
Oh and if you haven't already seen, collectors can be boosted for 1 gem each atm.

Does anyone else think the 'Renvenge attack' should bypass any shield in place? I've never been able to use the revenge function because there is ALWAYS a shield in place on the base I want to revenge, and I've tried it about about 60 times on different bases.
One base I particularly wanted to revenge because they took loads of loot. I was trying all day to revenge it and in between revenge attempts (5mins) the shield went down but someone else attacked it and then their shield went back in place again preventing me using it
Considering the revenge function is heavily advertised by Supercell it's pretty pointless because it never works.

Really depends on the league that the player is on. Personally if they are sitting anywhere from Champions to Masters it will be really difficult to revenge. You should be able to revenge in either crystal (still hard) or gold though. If you have moved up into these trophy ranges you will understand why the revenge never works, literally within 2 mins of logging off i am usually attacked. However, i can sit in gold all day without being attacked.
