Nvidia's GTX 1070 will be slower than the 1080 and way cheaper

Agreed. It makes sense though right. If it is faster than a TX as claimed by nvidia, that would mean it is faster than a 980Ti. As the 980Ti costs over £500 it makes perfect sense that the 1070 should cost more

I would be very surprised if it ends up with a '5' in front of it. Given the US list price of $379/$449 we will end up with a UK around the same but in £ of course. I'm still thinking circa £400, not much less and not as high as the current 980Ti price. It seems a tricky situation though, what with the price of the 980Ti... will those suddenly drop by £100 or so overnight? Ultimately it will depend on the performance difference between the two.

It's exactly the same as the 980 and 970 launch.

Launch price of 1080 is from $699, as only Founder Edition (aka glorified reference card with premium price) is available.

There will still be quite a wait for the 3rd party cards at the "supposed" $599.

That isnt what nvidia have said. There should be reference AIB boards

I'm still going for a 1080, but of course the 1070 will be the most popular card out of the two.

Of course people will buy it over the 980ti - it has higher performance, 2GB additional VRAM and it will receive driver optimizations for future games, while Maxwell will follow Kepler's fate.

If it's faster definitely. If a custom version clocks well it'd be an epic SLI card, plenty of RAM and much cooler than SLI 980TIs.

If the 1070 is £400 then will i be better picking up a 2nd hand 980ti?
Hopefully some benchmarks are released soon.
Sold my 780 while it was still worth something to fund a 1070 or 1080 but at £619 the 1080 is no longer possible. Currently without a card
