Have your children been christened

My two are christened purely because the wife wanted to, she's not religious at all though and was more to do with it being the done thing followed by a party.
I don't think it should be legal for someone to join someone else up to a club without the other persons consent...if that makes sense?

I agree but its funny to see how many people in this thread got their kids christened because their wife wanted it. Yet if they want a new CPU or GPU they need to seek authorization from their wife first. :D

Hahaha, not true in this case, give in here and go nuts with the upgrades (give n take and all that)

Oh and a party afterwards, win win from what I can see.

Hmm, I think a human being and a CPU/GPU are on a different level.

Think part of the point is cost.

How much does it cost for your kid to get christened? Is that money better spent somewhere else considering it has absolutely no benefit unless you want them to get into a christian school when they are older.

On a wider note, I'm not really a fan of subjecting kids to anything religious until they are old enough to understand it and make their own choices...

What a bizarre point of view, firstly it's an easy way of getting across a concept which 99% of people will understand from the context without giving away too much information (which some people are concerned about online) or without having to write girlfriends/boyfriends/wives/husbands every time you're referring to a group of people's partners

Secondly the word "partner" implies equality and is hardly clinical. Do you have a problem with equality in relationships? I can only assume without extra details that you do.

====

Seeing lots of responses about getting kids baptised to get into a decent school... nice to see that religious discrimination is so prevalent in 21st century Britain

Not 99% at all. Not even Colonel Frank Fitts, understood it when his new neighbours knocked his door.

Secondly it is clinical, as clinical means impersonal. I will leave you with your assumptions as we know what assumptions are ;):o

You're a weird one.

Have you talked about day orphanages in this thread yet?

I'm more into £600 camping holidays in the summer season.

Nope, I`m not religious and wont follow the sheep that think its a must.. wouldn't mind but the majority of people aren't even religious that get their kids christened, they just think it has has to be done!

this 10000 times this

But what if you've got a choice of 4 schools and you know school D is easily the best, it's come top every time and it is a sure way to get your child on the ladder to a good education, wouldn't you go through a meaningless ritual to get them there?
Or would your pride get in the way and you'd just pack the child off to a no hoper school?
