I can think of many reasons to slap a little ****** and put him in an arm lock but putting feet on the seats isn't one of them.

People should respect their surroundings full stop, not just seats on a train. However; that is nothing to do with assaulting someone whom does not, which is totally unacceptable.
'So, punched this child at the park today because he dropped his lollypop stick. ******* youth today, we never littered in my day'.

I remember some kids being real ****s on the train a year or two ago. People left the coach and numerous people told them to behave and that it was not a playground.
One guy even said they would get a smack to which one of the gobby ****s happily answered back "You can't though as you will get in trouble."
As a potential witness I would have "seen nothing" if it had come to that, though thankfully it did not.
Not condoning violence against kids, unless it is self-defence/reasonable force. Depends on the age obviously.

Maybe because the article is blown out of proportion and it wasn't as bad as the article makes it sound?
If you actually think it's ok to put your feet up on seats others will have to use after you then maybe someone should have given you a clip round the ears as a kid too.

I am unaware I have said it is ok, I have said it is accepted / ignored on many types of public transport I have used the world over. I have said that it is unacceptable to assault anyone for doing so too.
I do not put my feet up on public transport, largely because I do not use it as frequently, but also because I was raised properly; to respect my surroundings and that did not include being given 'a clip round the ear'.

That's a good argument for better parenting, not corporal punishment by members of the public.
Putting your feet up on a seat is hardly the barometer of a failed education/socialisation in a person, to be honest.
