I'm waiting until there's a range of more reasonably priced 470s available to buy. The gap from the barebones Sapphire card to the Nitro is silly, there should be something in between, like one with a half-decent cooler but at stock clocks.
It's a massive gamble tho with the current gen. With the pound:dollar rate falling slowly but steadily, I wouldn't bet on prices going down.
Plus the latest surge in mining (Ethereum) has come at the worst possible time.
It's a perfect storm to keep prices high.
or you can get this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kfa2...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-095-kf.html
for an extra tenner you're getting a more efficient and faster card, what's the difference between 6gb and 8gb when you're comparing cards of this caliper?

Yeah but that's now £20 more than the 470 8gb, and £40 more than the 480 4gb.
Like I said, I agree that the 8gb 470 is a silly card
It's a slightly more difficult upsell to the 1060 at £240 from the £200 4gb 480, at 1008p at least.
Tbh, if the 1060 was £200 I'd have probably bought that (extra 2gb vram, cooler).
But the GP106 at £260-£300 really cheeses me off. Esp after the 1070 and 1080 pricing - which was pre-Brexit!!! nVidia must be absolutely laughing all the way to the bank, at our expense.
and like you said though I do like the 1060 and it performs well yes, it's a bitter pill to swallow a x60 non Ti card at around £250 as far as I remember no X60 card has been this price apart from x60 Ti and the 760 coming in around the £200 mark
