We heard that the council would be doing small repairs to a water main in Crayford during the night, so might have a small drop in water pressure during the night.

Woke up to no water pressure and this on the high street.....

In this video taken in a local apartment block car park, the builders have used polystyrene insulation. The water has risen it with the cars on top and crushed them into the concrete ceiling! Not a nice surprise on a Sunday morning.

God knows what they've been getting up to to cause this level of utter carnage.

Herd about this on facebook and checked Kentonline, lost count amount of times Crayford has been flooded!

Touch wood my water pressure had been ok.

I assume all the shops are shut? What about Sainburys.

It does have Cray in its name. :p Guess they got the temp to do the repairs whilst the lads got the coffee... it backfired, or, should I say, backwashed.

The main pipe through there has been faulty for years. They keep patching it up instead of a full replacement to cut costs. Backfired on them this time as something has gone spectacularly wrong. At least it will be replaced now and there shouldn't be any more problems.

Who is liable for the damage to the cars? Thames water?

How are they not able to simply cut the water supply to the area in an emergency like that?

Sounds like rubbish planning.

What if it started threatening lives?

how can you make that much of a flood without turning off the damn pipe?

the polystyrene thing is coo lthough, quite impressive

Why would you use polystyrene in a car park?

Wonder why they couldn't turn off the water even a mains pipe cant chuck out that much in a short space of time surely. Unless it went off when they weren't around.

yes that polystyrene thing is very impressive, how many tons is that holding up? including the cars and tarmack,

I wonder if the water come up further if it would crush the cars?

imagine the insurance form "cause of accident, the polystyrene under the tarmac floated on the flood of water and crushed my car into the roof of the multi story car park :p"
