Haynes manuals yes or no?

These seem like an outdated concept to me, every job I've ever needed to do (on a whole variety of cars) had always been covered online be that via YouTube or walk through and advice on forums.

I'm sure they were great before the internet was so vast, but these days a little black and white book doesn't really seem much point.

Yup

Can usually find about 5 guides for every task on Youtube.

Torque settings tend to be a google away too.

Owners forums have a vast wealth of great info too usually.

Yeah we can get manufacturers software, so I've never used them.

If you have a car with an enthusiast following you can find diy onlime

Can't get one for my mx5 so downloaded the workshop manual from an enthusiast forum.

It's fine, but assumes you're a trained mechanic rather than breaking things down to idiot level, which I prefer!

Did this just the other day, for my timing belt - Found about 17 'guides', but only one that showed it with the correct method for teh correct timing was a belt manufacturer... and then only in response to all the existing wrong videos.
