I'm coming to the end of my mobile contract and have had my Nexus 6 for 2 years. The battery life isn't what it used to be but I don't want to spend much money on a new phone (would want to buy outright and have a cheap 30-day rolling contract). Smartphones <£200 aren't as good as the Nexus in terms of features (imo) so it seems stupid to downgrade just for battery life.

I've looked on ifixit and replacing the battery on the Nexus 6 seems like a bit of a faff; are there business/services out there that will replace batteries with warranty so that I can get a bit longer out of the Nexus? Can anyone recommend one in the Newcastle/North East?

I have no recommendations, however I have just ordered replacement batteries for my two Nexus 6's (along with some torx screwdrivers). I'll update on how easy/hard it is the do.

Two, but I think Stringy means a warranty on the work carried out/the battery itself.

Ah yes, that makes more sense.

You'd probably only likely get a 90-day warranty on a battery anyway looking at a few shops on Google.

Yep! It doesn't look too difficult, but then again I don't own the required tools already. When it starts mentioning heat guns (comment of step 5) and the like I start wondering if it's worth the hassle of trying myself if someone would do it for me.

I look forward to the update!

If it's anything like the glue on Samsung phones then a hairdryer will do the job just as well as a heatgun

Not sure if this helps but I've just changed from a Nexus 6 as well, to the LG V20, got £121 from Music Magpie for the N6 & the V20 cost me approx £255, so only cost about £135 to upgrade, very happy with the new phone, replaceable battery etc.... :)

Purchase it from the Nexus official store they will provide you warranty too.

Changed the battery on my Nexus 6 successfully without breaking anything. Only problem I have is that I do need new glue on the back as it didn't stick back down perfectly.
