Golf R32 or Golf Edition 30 *mk5 dsg*?

Every time the R32 comes up the general consensus is heavier, thirstier, not as nimble and a nicer noise than a similar GTI. I think cokecan said it best, it's not a hot hatch as such, it's more GT car.
Which is why the 130i is perfect if OP requires something light, fun and RWD :D Not to forget the 6 cylinder engine..
 
An R32 is a car you know you want and you want it because it's an R32.

If you're trying to weigh it up against 130s or GTIs, it's not the car for you.

They're a completely heart over head car, they'll never stack up on paper.
