What film did you watch last night?

+1

Watched Ready Player One last night. Worst film I've seen this year by a long shot. Just devoid of any redeeming features, poor script, poor acting, poor effects, poor cinematography...just utter dross. Can't believe how much hype they managed to manufacture for this film.... I guess the book was always written with the sole intention of being a cheap cash-in on 80's nostalgia, but it didn't even do *that* well.

I got about a third of the way through the book and gave up because I found the 80s references to be repetitive and simply a veneer over what felt like an early teens novel. The film sounds even worse, especially when you can spend the time watching those 80s films instead.

It's not just me that thought ready player one was a very poor film then.

Way too much busy cgi, annoying characters and poor story.

It's only worth watching for the nostalgia factor and that gets boring after a while.

RP One was awesome. 80's nostalgia for me and lots of new stuff for my little lad. The whole background to the story was gaming and characters, it wasn't meant to be the next Godfather.

And The Shining sequence? Amazing!!

Agree completely, I've re-watched it three times now, one of my favourite films in easily the last 5-10 years. Really appealed to me on so many levels, mostly all the 80s nostalgia just clicked.

Horses for courses I guess given the dramatic variation on opinions :)

Watched original Thor and Avengers Age of Ultron as it had been a while since I watched them both. Thor had some really great shots and cinematography, more than I remembered. Age of Ultron about as I remembered it. Thor 8/10 Ultron 6/10.

Transformers Age Of Extinction - 5.5/10

I actually quite enjoyed it. It was overlong (I watched it in two parts), the Irish guy was hard to understand and the story was a little hard to follow but it was good fun.

Mile 22 (2018) - 4/10

A relatively run of the mill special operations action film with lots of military style and terminology.

The story wasn’t very interesting and the twist at the end felt unnecessary.

The combat and fight scenes were good, although they did drag on a bit and the heroic death scenes were very cliché.

There was some attempt to flesh out the no-nonsense characters by giving them damaged personalities, but I found it just made them annoying.

The original Thor was pretty enjoyable I thought. They have gone downhill badly though. Second one was very average and the third one almost a parody of itself. Terrible.

Watched Sicario 2 day of the Soldado last night offshore, really enjoyed it, maybe not as thrilling as the original but more action.
Solid 8/10
agree thought it was a great action film, indeed showing a more noble/empathetic hero than

MI fallout, 6/10, formulaic, plagiarising Ronin and Cliffhanger (do they think we have goldfish memories)
pity they could not afford a BMW E34 M5 like in Ronin; hero also unscathed, as ever.

Watched the new 4K restoration of Heathers last night (onshore :p). One of my better halves favourite movies, and something I'd definitely watch but for some reason had never got around to it. 7/10.

Pride and Glory.
Just watched this on Amazon,it had a good ImDB score so I thought why not.
Not disappointed, quality cast and kept me interested all the way through.
