What film did you watch last night?

Venom - 5/10 and that's being generous. Boring start, general mess of a film with some entertaining bits.

Leave no Trace - 7.5/10 Excellent but understated story of a father with troubles who tries to live off the grid with his young daughter.

Venom sounds like your typical Hollywood guff then :p

Leave no trace is an understated gem of a film. We really enjoyed it.

Yea, it really was a gem, such good performances by both of them and I thought the cinematography was beautiful as well. You've probably seen it but if you liked that then I'd recommend Captain Fantastic as well.

Yes, the cinematography was fantastic. Really well made film.

Haven't seen captain fantastic, will definitely look that up now. Cheers :)

Is Leave No Trace the movie with Ben Foster?

Think I remember seeing a trailer for it a few months back and purely from the trailer it was hitting all the right notes. Ben Foster rarely does a bad role these days mind.

Yeah, thats the one with Ben Foster. Planning to see it sometime soon as well. Found a great song through the trailer which has been played quite a bit in the last few days.

that's the one. really do like him as an actor. i remember first becoming aware of him in Alpha Dog, thought he was very good in that and also Pandorum (even if it was a bit so so of a film)

Pandorum is a bit of a guilty pleasure movie...I really need to watch Alpha Dog again, remember it being excellent while not remembering a lot of the content.

Alpha dog is a very good show and like yourself, Pandorum is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me too. Despite it being a so so film I must have watched it half a dozen time’s. Would actually liked there to have been a sequel with them on the new planet having to avoid nasties of some sort.

Silver Linings Playbook.

Jumped in blind so it was a bit of a drawn experience to begin with. Quickly became fascinated by Coopers character, and his bounce off relationship with Lawrence. While there's definite serious undertones throughout the film, some of which I found relatable, you can't help at times being drawn in to warm nature of it.

I think the ending was perhaps a little maybe not. I wasn't so sure about his ex and the way that played out.

Really enjoyable though, I'm glad films like this kick about. Up in the 8/9 bracket if you enjoy good film with creditable acting performance.

Oh, that's confusing....I've been waiting for ages for that Anders Breivik film to come to Netflix (today) and have only just realised there are two films on the same subject, called :

22 July by Paul Greengrass and

U-July 22 by Erik Poppe

I wanted to watch the Poppe film but it's the Greengrass one on Netflix, bummer

A Star is Born (2018)

I love this, i mean its not perfect, but I would be really be picky, what we have here is amazing. Cooper feels like a real musician, he can really play the guitar, if he can't then that is some good air guitar he is doing. Gaga can of course knock out a tune but her acting doesn't feel like acting, she is really really really good in this. I never really liked her as an singer/artist but I love her as an actress, she felt real, the single drop of tear she had in 1 scene is just wow.

Oh, the music, I haven't heard an original soundtrack this good in yearsssssss, not since Magnolia by Aimee Mann, these songs feels like they are real country/rock songs that wouldn't be out of place in the charts.

I really love this, might go see this again.

p.s. I've never seen the other versions, I am aware of them but this is the first time I seen this movie so can't compare to the others.

Cooper even wrote/helped wrote some of the songs and worked with Willy Nelson's son on the music. His band is the band in the music scenes .

Halloween - 10/10.
(4K UHD Blu-Ray and Dolby Vision)

I have never watched Halloween before, I must have been living under a rock! Such a good horror film, complete classic as many would agree. The music and the general panning shots etc are so cool.

It looked amazing in 4K too, and I finally have a Dolby Vision player, so that really added to the dark scenes too! :)
