With a 1080ti or better I would say gsync isn't really needed, I'd sooner have a larger better panel ideally IPS then 2nd choice a VA.

£1k product with 2 year RMA and no rep or customer support Vs £430 Vega with gigabyte rep and UK RMA ....
If pushing £500+ on a GPU make sure it's longer then 2 years, specially when it's about 2 years when new line up is released and stand better resale chance

Many thanks for your input. Any reason you choose Intel over Ryzen? Or is it just your preference? I have always been Intel for as long as I can remember...

Gunning for AMD, specially slap intel in the face, but if you can squeeze budget to allow for MAX amount of FPS and highest min frame rate, will always be Intel into AMD can crank up clock speed and IPC increase .
