Maybe one or two idiots will, but 99.9% will not.
But its clear its not just one or two paying these prices as the cards are just going up, if the majority of consumers didn't pay the fees they wouldn't be sold so high

Am all for people spending what they want and if they can justify 1.5k or more on a card and get enjoyment that's perfectly fine

It does how ever impact people who refuse to spend so much as all other cards will still cost more too as they need to some how keep a range of prices.

£500 did used to get the top class gpu now it doesn't it gets what people refer to as mid/high and end, which to me is insane

its an insane price for a GPU in my eyes, but for some its the pinical of gaming and a must have item. some will pay extraordinary prices to have the latest and greatest to be top of the bench marks.
in the end it dosnt matter because someone will always want to be top and will pay what ever they have to. wasn't the GTX 690 the first 1k GFX card. now £100 on egay.

it seems all nvidia/tech companies want to do now, is sell fewer but higher margin products now, rather than volume to the masses.

Gone are the days when tech companies were proud of their tech and wanted it in the hands of as many people as possible, now all they seem to care about is profit per item, sell a few high margin sku's and screw over the mainstream. It's happening at all tiers of product too, not just to top end.

Patently untrue.

They sell very few high end vs mainstream cards. They have the high end (both camps) for bragging rights and to entice people to buy more value (questionable) positioned products which generally have higher margins. It applies to all sections of sales, the reason you have a £12, £16 and £28 bottles of similar wine on a restaurant menu is to sell the higher margined £16 bottle.

They will sell far less at these prices then if they sold at £500. It will drive down the pc market as a whole. Their might not be a PC market soon because of all this greed. With cloud gaming coming this will happen regardless. Nvidia knows this and wants max profit before it all goes to ****.

But the rises have been across the range. The £200-£250 *60 class is now £330+ at a section of the market that is far more sensitive to price rises than the top tier.

If we use your wine analogy. The £12 replacement is now £18, the £16 replacement is now £22 and the £28 replacement is now £40

Pretty much yeah. It will be interesting to see the prices of the next series of GPU's compared to this.

Oh i agree fully with you on the price creep that has gone on and it sucks. Hopefully the market will see a correction soon either driven by pricing people out of the gpu market, shareholder revolt or genuine competition in the space.

Remember when we were all retards for preordering at £1049...

But yeah there is no way any sane person should be paying £2,000 for one of these cards, joke price.

Well when Sony drops the PS5 PC gaming is going to take a massive hit at these massively inflated prices esp if it gives a solid 60fps at 4K.

Exactly - these are my estimated specs for the PS5

CPU: Equivalent to Ryzen 3500 - 7nm 8 core Ryzen 2 CPU clocked at 3Ghz - Double or more the performance of the Xbox One X CPU
GPU: Equivalent to 7nm Navi based Vega 56 - Double the performance of a PS4 PRO GPU
Memory/RAM: 16 to 24GB of GDDR6 shared system memory with 600Gbps of bandwidth - 4 to 6GB allocated to System, rest allocated to GPU VRAM
Total performance: 10 to 12 Tflops
Designed for: 4k 30 to 60fps traditional console gaming and 1440p 90fps VR console gaming
Launch Price: $500USD
Release Date: Early 2020
