We watched ALL the Dothraki die at Winterfell. Why are there suddenly literally thousands now at KL. She hasn't even spoken to them for 2 seasons why on earth are they following her? Where's that relationship? the unsullied were massacred, then we see a shot of thousands of them at KL.

KL was a fortified, prepared, fed, siege proof castle with the Lannister army, 100+ Scorpion Ballistas, 1000 Ships in Eurons Fleet (+ Eurons Laser Aim), the entire Golden Company (20,000 men). ALL of it was taken out by 1 Dragon. Euron got a direct hit 3 times on one Dragon by himself last week but this time 1,100 Ballistas can't his one dragon once when it flies directly at them?

Then the woman who "can't stand to watch people in a fighting pit", who built her entire dynasty out of compassion and putting an end to violence murders half a million civilians?

Gregor who has been inhuman for so long suddenly develops a personality just to satisfy a viewer wish? Surely you just write it that Sandor attacks the queen to bait Undead Greg into a fight? Why does he suddenly think for himself? So lazy.

Why the hell does Euron fight Jaime? What even is that?

Cersei dies IN A BASEMENT.

WHY DID ARYA GO ALL THE WAY THERE THEN JUST TURN AROUND WHILES SHE LITERALLY ON THE STAIRS TO THE QUEEN SHE VOWS TO KILL. Just so you can put her in place for next episode? Come on.

I legitimately got angry typing this.

Pretty much all of this.
I thought then that Arya would see something get angry, and get to put a knife in Cerseis throat. No, lets give the most non rewarding death possible. Its the one thing we wanted to see, as they army was turning it would have been great to see that the people turned on her, no one wanted her there, then finally get his head opened up. Nah, lets give her a warm embrace and the ceiling fall on her.

After seeing the other dragon die in the previous episode I thought we were going to see something a bit more clever than a dragon just owning everything. I have no problem with the end of Dany's character arc it's just how it got there. She has seemingly gone crazy over 1 and a half episodes.

Ep3 had a lot to answer for with the numbers left. They wanted to show the main characters as ****** by having them surrounded by the dead when the NK was with Bran but they ended up making it look like about 12 people were left alive in the whole place. They should have shown shots of large sections of WF still holding with plenty of defenders. How half the Dothraki survived their charge is anyone's guess!

Next episode they pretty clearly say half of everything was wiped out so not much point still getting upset about it two episodes later.

Slow loading/aiming ballista stuff doesn't bother me - maybe they should have shown a few shots sailing above and below the dragon that got hit in ep4. But meh, they've only ever hit one when it didn't know they were there. Drogon and Dany have seen them in use a couple times now so dealt with them in a sensible way for the third encounter. Coming down from above the fleet sorted them out and the stationary targets were easy pickings after that.

Gold Company had no chance with a Dragon in play. Books and tv show have made it plenty clear that a dragon is like bringing an Apache gunship to a... well, medieval battle. Except this Apache doesn't run out of ammo.

Why would Arya leave? Erm, because the whole castle was about to collapse and to stay was certain death. They literally say that too.

Euron/Jaime fight is silly in terms of how the heck did he just so happen to swim to that location? However, why he'd fight him is fairly obvious. He wanted Cersei and Jaime was in the way of having her. Jaime was also on her naughty list for going upt nort. Plus Euron is nuts.

Gregor showed signs of recognising his brother back at end of season 7. There's clearly some residual traces of him and the hatred he had. Him calling him out triggered it. Frankenstein being killed by his monster isn't new ;)

Then the woman who "can't stand to watch people in a fighting pit", who built her entire dynasty out of compassion and putting an end to violence murders half a million civilians?

Agree her swing was a bit lolwut, but this is also the woman who's being saying for a long time that she'll burn a city down for not helping her (quarth), take what she sees as her through fire and blood, has burnt her enemies alive - multiple times. Hardly stable talk or behaviour. This was to folk, that while having crossed her, didn't actually manage to hurt her too much.
Cersei killed one of her children and her best friend. KL was the city that her family were killed in, they hadn't risen up for her. The battle was over very quickly with minimal bloodshed to her enemies. That wasn't enough for her.

Still, didn't think she'd go that bananas.

Pretty much this.

It is even more annoying when D&D have the 'Inside the Episode' segments to further explain the episodes and state things like "What we see here is the end of the Dothraki, basically." Then, somehow, they all reappear.

As stated a number of posts back, Dany could have just gone to KL with her dragons ages ago and just burnt the whole place down. I actually would have preferred that. Leave the NK for the final episode. Instead we got her going to the wall, so that he could get a dragon to get through the wall, and after 10000 years falls at the first line of defence. The whole thing is actually insulting to our intelligence.

What is more out of character was Cersei not just killing Dany, Tyrion and her grounded dragon when they were stood in front of her.

Agree Cersei not one who's likely to respect a parely, even when a character like Ramsey does. I do wonder if that was more of an sfx gaff showing them that close to the wall? Dragon was a bit further back suggesting, perhaps, it's out of range and to pull anything would risk it coming in angry. Could the ballistas in front reload quick enough, would they hit it? Even if they did would it stop the dragon getting a blast or two off with Cersei stood there herself?

The frustrating thing with this and various other holes is a few extra seconds of dialogue/scene setting etc could've fixed it....

e.g. In this case someone leaning in and telling Cersei if she killed Dany/Tyrion etc then even if they hit the dragon they couldn't guarantee killing it before it rained fire down on them etc. Heck throw it in just after she raises her hand and have that as the thing that makes her reconsider mowing them all down.

  1. Patch Notes for Episode 5
    1. Scorpions got nerfed. Significantly reduced accuracy. And the hero character Euron no longer gives a bonus to Scorpion accuracy.

    2. Dragons got buffed. Speed and stealth have both been increased. They can now take the hide action while flying.

    3. Dothraki have been added back to the game. Fans were upset about their removal, so they’re back now.

    4. Battle Times have been shortened. Complaints that the Battle of Winterfell lasted too long have been heard, so now battles last no longer than 5 minutes.

    5. Northerners and Unsullied both have reduced honor and morality meters. It is now possible for them to commit war crimes with little to no provocation.

    6. Cersei’s speed has been reduced. She now moves sluggishly, if at all.

    7. Euron’s plot armor has been removed.

    8. The Mountain’s loyalty has been reduced for the introduction of the Cleganebowl game type.

    9. Arya’s conviction has been reduced after complaints that she was too OP. Her plot armor has been significantly increased to compensate.

Dany's turn reminded me of Anakin in Revenge Of the Sith yeah sure he was a sulky whiner like Dany but to go from a good character to killing children is too quick of a turn for me.
