JDM scene kid thing. Let's everyone know I'm a ****. :p

It's a hang ring or 'Tsurikawa' as found on Japanese public transport.

Years ago, people in the japanese modified car scene would steal them and hang them from the back of their cars as a sign of defiance, and then it sort of evolved into a commercially available drift charm. Some say when it drags along the floor you know your car is lowered enough...

I guess you could remove it, if it's been stuck on by previous owner. Same with the nite nite kids thing.

Sometimes my Focus won't start on first press of the button but always on second so had a poke around and once again I found the nut on the positive terminal was a bit lose - Only just one turn of spanner but don't the garages do nuts up tight anymore - this is the second time it's happened.
Not sure yet if it was the problem as haven't been out .
I have so far cleaned up three earth points and tightened up 6 points - I know there is also one under the nearside wheel arch next to ECU but need to take wheel and arch liner off to get to it.
Battery was new last year.

Surprisingly successfully removed a horribly corroded caliper bleed valve on the focus and replaced with a new one today.

Then proceeded to leave the locking wheel nut adapter on and drove off, it's now....somewhere

Plugged the standard footwell lights back in - no idea why they were unplugged, I guess a previous owner disliked them.

Also fitted a new glovebox as the hinge on mine was broken, this one came with the added bonus of being velour lined whereas my old one was bare plastic.

I had an idiot moment on Wednesday. I'd driven to Amsterdam for work, went to customer site and finished my job there stupidly early, so immediately started the drive back. However the kerbs at the place I was at were massive compared to what we have here in the UK and due to being an idiot, in a rush and the car park being very tight, I forgot that I'd parked with said rather large kerb to my left so I ended up turning left too early and trashed the side skirt. Here's a pic taken at night so it's not the best:

Obviously it's a bit beyond trying to get it fixed up so I managed to get hold of a replacement for a decent price in decent condition and already painted in the right colour. It only took about 15 minutes of effort today to get it swapped over - surprisingly easy, just had to remove 9 or so plastic screws underneath the car then the side skirt just pulls off. The entire car needs a damn good clean after having recently covered a few thousand miles in crap weather so it stands out quite hilariously right now, but even if the colour match isn't 100% right, it's low down enough that it shouldn't be too obvious anyway:

I either need to clean it, or just drive for a few more days to get it to blend in with the rest of the filth :D

Here's a couple of pictures of the sterling job I did on the original side skirt:

My Evo VI went to my friendly specialist today for a new alloy radiator. The original had failed somewhere along the crimped alloy/plastic top seal and started to leak.

Nice new Koyo Rad fitted. Along with silicone rad hoses.

Also had new clutch master and slave cylinders fitted.

These are jobs I can't do myself. I do a lot of work myself, but this is just too specialised for me.

Decided not to use the cheapo car wash joints any more and do it myself... Just did a deep clean of alloys, plus glass inside and out, and wiper blades.

Treated glass with anti raindrop stuff that's been sat on my shelf years untested, we'll see if it works.

Need to borrow a power hose and get the grime out of all the nooks and crannies in bodywork next. Not easy when it's dark by the time I'm back from work.

Doing the clutch on an Evo is a pig of a job.

With an engine crane it is not so bad and they are not expensive. I had an oil leak from the oil pump on my GT-FOUR and was going to refresh the suspension and a few other niggly jobs so just decided to drop the lump. 4 hours to drop the engine and could get all the fiddly jobs done in a doddle.

Disconnect engine harness.
Disconnect cooling system.
Remove turbo/exhaust.
Remove intake side.
Remove drive shafts.
Remove engine mounts or just drop entire subframe.
Drop engine onto dolly.
Lift car and drag engine out from bottom.

Yep it will be the same on the Mondeo too. As long as it's definitely the DW10C Euro 5 engine which was used from (I think) 2010 onwards. I gave it a try after reading this thread on Talkford:

https://talkford.com/community/topi...-201009-140-to-163-hp-by-elmconfig-ids/page-5

At first I thought it was only possible with Ford IDS but it is definitely possible with FORScan with the extended license and a Ford HS/MS CAN OBD cable :)

Finally did this today, initial impressions are good with a noticeable performance increase. Just to confirm did you choose the 150/350 engine setting?

Cheers

Copied from my project thread on the MeganeRS forum:

Had the car back to RPM for fitting today, removed the old unit and found some significant cracking in the exhaust side of the turbo around the wastegate which I reckon was causing the boost issue identified by EFI. Also had new downpipe gaskets because we found a small leak when smoke testing the car originally, along with a Forge recirc valve.

Car will be going in for mapping once again at EFI on 5th November so it'll kill me driving like a nun until then since I don't want to risk any damage due to it not running properly, can already hear the difference in sound though as you can hear the turbo whistle even at low RPM :innocent:. 630cc injectors will be installed at the same time as mapping.

I also have 4x Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's on order because I snagged a tyre today and it's put a sizable tear in the sidewall (Thankfully no wheel damage) and I wasn't really getting on with the standard Pilot Sport 2 that is on there at the moment, I originally ordered the new AD08RS because I was a huge fan of the previous AD08R but sadly I read some reviews which claimed the new compound is a bit of a step back in terms of dry grip
